Tell me this doesn't look better:

That looks a lot better for sure, wish they'd have done it like that

Multiple issues here. One, Loki got to her, she shook it off and did the whole "thanks for cooperating" deal but even as she is talking to Hawkeye before the climax, she obviously is influenced.

Two, she thought she was in control of the situation, even saying Bruce over and over, not Banner or even Dr. Banner, but Bruce an attempt to strike at his core humanity. It didn't work. He was so fueled with rage that he came after her as if she were a stranger.

This wasn't a firefight or even kicking the crap out of a bunch of enemies, even in the beginning where she is held captive and playing scared she was always in control. That freak out moment was the realization that her gun or her skill, nothing would have saved her from The Hulk and it was a position she had never been in before.

Three, he kept coming. He was practically stalking her and it was that fact that if it weren't for Thor she couldn't hide anywhere, that old "Monster under the bed" mentality when in the face of these dangers that Whedon has done and done well in his previous projects.

As always, Mike is bang on. Also, if you read the prequel comics it established that BW, Fury and the lot AREN'T used to taking on superheros yet (remember this is pre-formation of the Avengers).

From The Avengers Prelude "Fury's Big Week Chapter 7"
DIRECTLY AFTER THE EVENTS OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK
BW: "Director Fury"
Fury: "Agent Romanoff. I hear that Banner escaped."
BW: "Yes, but General Ross took possession of that other... thing. Looked like a deformed dinosaur."
Fury: "That's unfortunate."
BW: "Sir... It's too much. Too much for us to handle."
Fury: "Never thought I'd hear YOU say that."
BW: "Don't misunderstand me, because I fear no man... but this is different. These are Gods and monsters, and machines of war that we're mixed up with. I'm supposed to go up against the Hulk with 17 rounds on armor-piercing bullets? I don't think so. I don't like it any more than you do Sir... but we are outmatched. The sooner we accept it, the sooner we can fix it... or the sooner we can stop wasting our time pretending that WE can make a difference."
Fury: "You're right..."

Should've read the prequel comics then :monkey1

When I saw the box office figures this morning I thought, "It's about freaking time!"
To see the Marvel Universe portrayed in the way it always should have on the big screen and that everyone from Fanboy #1 to Joe Q. Public is embracing it, excited about it and busting their humps to get their butts back in a theater seat feels really great.
I know the opening weekend is impressive but I think the second weekend will be strong as well because of the love this film is receiving. If this reaches Titanic numbers what will it mean for the MCU and Marvel Studios.
I keep thinking this is huge, but what does it mean for the future? with the momentum behind them now about anything could happen.

In fact, Fury noted this fact pretty directly in the movie as well, stating that everything changed the moment they learned about Thor.

Saw the film last night. I really liked it. I loved Cap. America much more in this film then the first one. I thought Thor was better also. Iron Man was back to first movie form and Loki was a great villian.

My only complaint and this will go away with time I am sure is that there was not enough Hulk IMO. Now Hulk is my fav. Character so I am Biased. But after reading about him and watching the previews I think I just got my self to excited and ended up being let down a bit. When he was on screen he was great.

I would have liked to see a sonic thunder clap or a Hulk Smash move also.

I thought his animation was good but I really did not think it was that much better then the other two films. I liked his look but I still thought he looked off - He did not look Solid enough. Now this could be just me and my excitment and my eyes running all over the screen whenever he was on it trying to see every cool part of him. I don't know. But at times I thought at times he looked to be elastic or something. I cant explain it. I think I said it best when I said he did not look solid enough. But I will have to wait and see it again.

I thought The Incredible Hulk film itself did a better job with the Hulk character himself. I love "Leave me alone" "Hulk Smash" the rage and anger he shows in some scenes. I think that is why I loved the Hulk scene on the Helicarrier. He was pure rage in that scene. Loved it. But this film showed off what the hulk can do and his overall power better then TIH.

Overall it was a great film. One I know I will like better when I see it again and I know what to expect. I think I will also find that Hulk is in the movie a tad more then I think now. I know I am still going to wish there was more. Just one minute and a half scene of pure rage and destruction. That's all I want. But this should put a smile on the face of most all Marvel fans.

Don't worry, Ruffalo is signed on for another 6 films. I'm sure you will get all you want from Hulk eventually.

Just got back from the theater, absolutely amazing!
First time I've seen a Marvel movie that really gets what's great about the source material and respects it, all thanks to Joss Whedon.
I don't think they've could've made a better Avengers movie.

Can't wait to see what "the guy at the end (don't want to spoil it)" brings next! :yess:

---------------------------------------------------
The film was great unfortunately my experience wasn't. Some giant fat f----s, too large for their seats that must've had a combined weight of 600 pounds had to sit right next to me, stank to high heaven then couldn't shut the f---k up throughout the whole thing, loudest people in a packed theater and had to quote every funny line after it's said.
I made sure I got great seats by showing up 40 minutes early, and these two disgusting people had to show up 3 minutes till and sit right next to me. They should've been forced to sit front row.

Ah well, gives me an excuse to go see it again, preferably in a few weeks when all the rush has died down and less people in the theater.

Yep, Thanos!! Can't wait! I hope they keep Joss on because I feel he's the only one in Hollyweird that can give us a true Avengers sequel.

Also, was I the only one that thinks the giant flying dragons were the movie version of Fin Fang Foom?

Was Tony always this hostile towards Cap in the comics? I always imagined he had a lot of respect for Cap, like everyone one else on the team. Here, it seemed like he was constantly mocking him. :dunno

Cap's headpiece in the Avengerrs looked simplistic, cheap and just crappy looking. No wonder it got torn off near the end.....suit still not that great. First Cap film outfit better in so many ways.....
