Disagree on his thoughts of Hawkeye (though Hawkeye was the one with the least amount of material), and especially Black Widow. "The screenwriter didn't seem to know who she was". That's not the impression I got.

The only criticism he seems to have is that it didn't follow the comic exactly the way he wanted it to.

:lecture:lecture:lecture I think having Hawkeye as a villain for the first part gave him more face-time vs. being lost in the crowd. And for him to think Black Widow was shafted makes me wonder if he was too busy texting notes during her scenes. :cuckoo:

While I agree about Ant Man and Wasp, I would've felt little to no attachment to their characters compared to the opposite with everyone else, so I think building them in a solo flick and then adding them into Avengers 2 is a better idea. Especially if Pegg is still attached as Ant Man. :lol

Love Game of Thrones, but obviously Martin never read the Ultimates.

Finally got to my second viewing last night. Picked up on so much stuff I missed the first time. I love the look on Fury's face when Cap pays him the $10. :lol

I'm hoping to get another showing this week....

Thanks for bringing that up. I didn't get that joke. :monkey3

Anyone care to explain?

Early in the film (when Fury first visits him in the gym) Cap says "I doubt anything will surprise me anymore" and Fury says "10 bucks says you're wrong."

Cut to scene when Cap first boards Hellicarrier and it cloaks. $10 paid in full :lol

That's my favorite thing about Whedon's style... He plants subtle seeds for jokes that you all but forget about until he springs the punch line on you. The Galaga bit was also great.

Hawkeye was an uber-badass in Ultimates 1 & 2. The story gives the reader reasons to care about the character and ultimately to sympathize with his revenge story arc. Film version doesn't even begin to compare.

The Galaga bit was also great.

Galaga was awesome. Apparently somebody on the heli-carrier bridge is a MAME fan.

:slap I actually remember that! How silly of me to have not put those together! Duh!

.

He's good at this, also with visual cues that I missed both times when seeing this movie.

Didn't put it together:

I agree! I *hope* we'll see the Hawkeye backstory flushed out in a one-off movie (probably with widow).

The important point though was that Hawkeye's and BW's Ultimates versions were COMPLETELY different characters than the 616 versions (Hawkeye in particular). The Avenger's movie used Ultimate HE and BW as its templates, and Martin is reminiscing about the 616 versions.

I read that the whole "shwarama gag" was a last minute throw in from RDJ himself on set that day, he changed it from another line. And then it turned into being the final scene. (after credits).

Yeah, they filmed a lot of other lines for the scene. I hope we get all of 'em in the blu-ray.

I was also confused about the $10 - :lol thanks for that

Didn't notice the shawarma cue either, nice

I didn't catch that. It looked like he was just stating that he wished the roster was constructed in the order originally layed out by Stan.

Yup. I do agree with him on one thing though. I love Pym. I really hope they do him justice when he comes on board.

That's what we all read. How he had like two words and then through ad-libbing wound up with 6 extra pages of script. :lol
