It's funny how when I visit the Avengers thread, I hear some bashing on people who love the Nolan films (nolanites), but if you go into TDKR's thread, you see none of that towards The Avengers hardcore fans. :wave

That's because the Avengers fans aren't polesquatting with every post in that thread, like the Nolancompoops are doing here. :lol

Ang Lee attempted a comic book looking movie with his wacky frames and editing mixed with deep father/son issues and he ended up with a story too convoluted, a Banner to whiny and a cartoony Hulk with an ever changing size fighting a freaking Hulk poodle. :slap

Avengers Banner/Hulk > Crouching Hulk Hidden Father Issues

Nice read, I think I agree with pretty much his entire take. :clap

I agree as well, especially with this part......

" The shot in the middle of the battle where she pulls out a pistol was silly."

What exactly was she going to do with that pistol?

I don't get why so many people think that's fun to watch with an obnoxious crowd. Laughing at jokes is one thing, but to be talking, cheering to the point dialogue is hard to hear, and finishing characters' lines would piss me off so much... Am I the only one that thinks that? I want to watch a movie, not participate in some fanboy geek frenzy.... I'd be equally pissed at a Nolan Batman movie (moreso, actually) so don't think I'm hating on this movie.

I wouldn't mind it, say, at a midnight showing, but I wouldn't want to hear it for a second viewing. It would be too annoying.

What did you think of his take on Hawkeye? I'm a big Renner fan and this movie got me even more pumped for the new Bourne movie, but I definitely understood what he was getting at. I began collecting the Avengers in the 70s and stayed with them through the 90s, I definitely understand the Hawkeye he was speaking about.

BW did seem to wise up and start using one of the energy staffs from a fallen alien baddie.

DVD
1. AUDIO COMMENTARY BY DIRECTOR JOSS WHEDON
2. FEATURETTE - Assembling the Ultimate Team

Any or all of this might change. Or be wrong. We’ll see. But let’s take it on face value for now. I trust it, anyway.

No surprise that DVD is getting short shrift with the special features – there’s more money to be made from encouraging people to get Blu-ray players. I don’t know why any film lover wouldn’t want to upgrade to HD, but holding supplements to ransom like this seems a little tough.

I’m surprised that the commentary is Joss and only Joss. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for a group track – ideally, as well as Joss’ standalone recording. Perhaps they were all too busy stuffing their faces with Shawarma to get one done.

The One Shot is another short film. The previous two were both Coulson-centric. Hard to know if this one will be, but if you recall, Edgar Wright has been making some odd comments about Ant Man recently. Could… he… really? Explains both “I shot something recently, can’t tell you what” and “Maybe I’ll shoot some Ant Man this year,” to paraphrase. Though perhaps it doesn’t explain both at once.

The title Item 47 probably means a lot more to you than it does to me. Does it shed any light, do you think?

You’ll see that there’s a “second screen” function listed too. I’ve talked extensively about this idea earlier in the week. We can expect to see an iPad app made available just ahead of release, I guess, but will this be the second screen I’m waiting for?

It’s interesting to see what deleted and extended scenes we’ll be seeing. Most intriguing is the info given on the alternative ending - Maria Hill Interrogation. Interrogated by who? When? To what end? I’ve got a hunch that this scene might make her complicit in the whole Coulson’s-cards manipulation, but we’ll see.

As for when we’ll see, it looks like the US release is set for Tuesday 25th September. Many more details between now and then, I’m sure.
