Agreed. Cap is really cool despite being somewhat of the old school good boy of the group! :yess:

Yeah. I really loved his deleted scene and am bummed that it wasn't in the movie. I think a *lot* more people would have been even more sympathetic to Cap had it been left in. Makes me wonder if RDJ campaigned to have it cut. :monkey3

I believe RDJ was the one convinced Evans to accept the Cap role to begin - telling him it would boost his career. Boy, did RDJ hit the nail on the head with that one! Luckily, Evans was smart enough to take his advice.

Man, this film just can't help itself from taking over everything it touches. The only downside? We'll still be watching Iron Man sequels long after RDJ dies a natural death... like "Weekend at Tony's" or somethin... Jarvis could make it work!

:horror

I'd rather watch a "Weekend at Tony's" with Downey's corpse than see the role recast. Hell, there's always Marvel Zombies to explain it! :lol

Come to think of it, the day they recast that role is the day we learn that the zombie apocalypse is a walk in the park next to the nerd rage apocalypse. Whatever you do, don't go indoors that day! :horror

Seriously, I don't know if I want to live to see it happen.

Or they could turn him into a cyborg with RoboCop. The original Robo too, and not that upcoming "whatever" that's suppose to be. :wink1:

They MUST keep RDJ at least through Avengers 2.

It'd be crazy for them to let him go, even stupider to drop him mid-"Phase."

I agree, RDJ is as much Tony as Tony is RDJ; Thor and Cap, etc could be replaced and it would cause a tiny ripple but RDJ is that role...IMO at least.

Could be done sure but it would feel odd I think and like something is out of place.

If they replace RDJ I'm completely done with everything Marvel movie related and I suspect alot of other casual fans would be as well. I see the other stuff like Cap and Thor only because I know they will eventually tie into the RDJ Iron Man universe, he's the only reason I saw the Avengers(especially once they got rid of Norton).

I actually feel the same way about Evans, Hemsworth, Ruffalo, etc., but those guys are guaranteed to be around for a while so not really worth mentioning. I think the dynamic of the individual Avengers' actors is popcorn entertainment gold and they should maintain the full team through *at least* one more "phase."

If they replace RDJ before all this is done, Marvel and Disney would be signing their fanboy death warrants.

That would be like replacing Jack Sparrow with someone else. Doesn't and wouldn't work.

Finding a replacement for RDJ, to play Tony Stark, would not only be one hell of a job, it would destroy the popularity of the franchise.

There's a reason Iron Man took center stage in the marketing:

RDJr isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He knows he's too valuable to be let go and Disney/Marvel knows it too. I think anyone besides him is expendable really. Even Jackson as Fury even though the role was literally written for him. RDJr is the whole reason we even got the Avengers. If Iron Man had tanked at the box office like the Hulk did, we wouldn't have gotten a second Iron man let alone Avengers. He built this whole Marvel franchise and won't be going anywhere. If anything, I think Marvel will pull a Fury and sign him up for a good dozen or so films at once, throw in a few TV SHIELD appearances and call it a day.
