:lecture Obadiah disagrees... and Steve Buscemi thinks you're nuts.

John Goodman just doesn't give a f__k anymore. :lol

Shut the **** up Walter!!! :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

He credits his wife for his turnaround. I'm glad it happened. I always liked him and I always hated seeing him in the news for drinking and drugging.

I think RDJ will be around as long as HE wants to be. Since his role has a lot of CGI to it, he can get pretty long in the tooth and still play the role.

I like this Avengers team. I hope they don't break it up.

Agreed. Though they can feel free to add Christina Hendricks as Scarlett Witch in the near future. I'd need 3DD glasses just to watch!

Regardless on how one feels about the film, the toys are still AWESOME! :rock

They're pretty good, but I can't have two Batmen on my shelf so Keaton it is.

The problem lies with Feige though, who's already gone on record as saying they'd "Bond" the role. :monkey1 Here's hoping that was just posturing for the inevitable negotiation and he'll wind up giving RDJ the same salary with more points. After watching that Target Ex doc(s), I don't see how a single person could think he's not the glue for the Marvel U on screen.

If Feige does follow through on those musings he will need an armored escort to every Comic Con he ever attends for the rest of his life.

:nono

Avengers hype was fulfilled. :dunno

Avengers did SO much more than live up to its hype. Obviously there was Cap's dubious cowl plus I remembered that when the first Iron Man came out how weak the final fight was compared to the Transformers city battle the previous year. I thought we'd see a case of deja vu with the Avengers just fighting a cheaper, toned down version of the Dark of the Moon invasion.

I even joked that the leviathan from the trailer looked awesome but would probably be destroyed 10 seconds after Iron Man's "bringing the party" line. And I was right! When Hulk punched it I thought "oh no, here we go..." until like 10 more leviathans emerged out of the portal. Awesome move Marvel. Way to finally up the ante and leave no reason whatsoever to watch a stupid TF movie ever again. :lol

:goodpost:

And btw, Michael Bay is "rebooting" the Transformers franchise with an untitled TF4. Makes you wonder if both of these franchises will try to out-do each other in the coming years. However, financially, I think TA will win hands down just like this year.

I just finished watching it on blu-ray and wanted to know why you can see the strings of saliva on Hawkeye's mouth when he talks to Black Window after he is no longer under Lokees spell?

Sat and watched special features, funny I tuned down two installs at the NASA facility they filmed at, one was during the filming time period of the movie but who knows if they were filming at that location at that time.

Feige is a ******. Nobody that works with him seem to really like him from what I've read. Luckily Feige has to answer to Disney now. The mouse will definately want to keep RDJr onboard. They'd let anyone else go to make sure he stays on I'd think, so I'm not worried.

But I do think Bonding the roles is the way to go in the long run. I wish they'd done that with Spider-man instead of rebooting it already. Just because you switch actors doesn't mean you have to throw everything out the window. Bond did prove that for what, 40+ years before Craig came along. I'm still pissed they thought they neeed to reboot Bond after so long of proving it didn't need to be. :dunno

Not really sure Bond proved anything. Moore was a joke, Dalton not believably sophisticated enough, and when they finally got Brosnan, the stories after Goldfinger were hokier than anything in Moore's films. There's a huge gap between Connery and Craig and I'm not sure I could stomach that many bad Marvel films. :lol

:slap
Let's not get into this again...

They'll have to eventually, but I'd rather they keep RDJ until he's as old as Moore in AVTAK. :monkey3

The story is what's important, and I'd rather have fresh stories with new actors than retelling the same origin every three films. So depending on the circumstances, I'd prefer recasting than rebooting.

there will come a point of over-saturation of superhero movies. mainstream audiences WILL eventually get tired of them, it's just a question of when. marvel/disney, and even warner bros to a lesser extent isn't really helping their case by pumping them out with full force, and adapting property after property, even ones that frankly should be left alone (b and c tier superheroes).

personally, i love superhero flicks. and marvel's had a very smart business plan thus far, leading up to the avengers... and then opening up the universe some more to their more cosmic/esoteric stuff. but the bubble's gonna burst at some point. unless studios manage it well and spread them out evenly AND make sure the products are of very good quality. even so, i think that's only going to delay the inevitable with regards to the public's appetite.

FYI, Iron Man was a "B-tier" superhero. Arguably Thor as well. :wave

yes, i know that. doesn't change a thing about the validity of my point. there are lots of b and c tier superheroes that are really pushing it in terms of viability as a property to be translated to the big screen.

iron man is an inherently cinematic property and his tech-based background is a ripe fit for translation to live action. a lot of other b and c tier characters... not so much.

besides, that isn't even the issue. the issue as i stated, really is the growing overall over-saturation in the market. i just think the studios should be more selective and sparing with the projects they push out. no real good can come out of churning them out like a factory...

2 films a year is hardly "churning them out like a factory." :lol
