Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Its going to be like Star Wars with its gargantuan threat. There's room for Lukes, Hans, Leias, Chewies, Landos, Wedges, etc. in the Marvel universe if the story is epic enough.

In one movie...

In one movie...

No, the events and characters in The Avengers have been introduced and teased over several movies for a number of years now. This is just gearing up to be the "Return of the Jedi" or "Return of the King" of superhero movies where all the leads introduced over multiple movies have a giant showdown against a huge menace. Hopefully that's how it plays out anyway.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Wow...If they pull off that GUY in the movie, this will be largest scale comic book movie ever. Joss Whedon got my vote so far.

Exactly. The only characters actually introduced in The Avengers will be the villain. Think about it. Cap in Captain America: First Avenger. Thor, Loki and Hawkeye in Thor, Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Iron Man, Nick Fury in Iron Man, Hulk in The Incredible Hulk. Outside of the side SHIELD agents there isn't really anyone new to introduce so a side villain to go with Loki would be the only thing they have to explain.

It may not be true, Leviathan may have been code for the Alien mothership or something else considered "huge". Interesting to see what Whedon comes up with.
