Just got my copy of The Social Network Blu Ray....

Way to make all you people that were saying "worst cover art ever" eat crow!!! This thing is easily one of the most striking and elegant packages on my entire shelf now.

The art that was revealed is nothing more than a cardboard slip, and when that comes off you are left with a solid Black front and back with a shinier black text upon it saying "You Don't Get To 500 Million Friends Without Making A Few Enemies". The entire thing feels like suede or velvet. And this is all a slip cover. You slide the rest of the package out the side revealing what is basically the poster, the up-close semi out of focus close up of Jesse Eisenberg. When you open this, there are just the two discs, each of which are again, solid black.

This thing is just classy classy classy. Awesome package. Awesome film!

From Highdefdigest.com:
In an early announcement to retailers, Sony says 'Taxi Driver' is coming to Blu-ray on April 5.

In February, the Berlin Film Festival will screen a 4K digital restoration of Martin Scorsese's cult film Taxi Driver. Writer and director Paul Schrader, who wrote the screenplay for the movie, will present the restored version at the world premiere in Berlin together with Grover Crisp, senior VP for restoration and mastering of Sony Pictures. A Blu-ray release has not been formally announced yet, although a German release is slated for April.

During restoration, the original 35mm negative was scanned at 4K resolution. Grover Crisp managed all facets of the digital restoration of this Columbia Pictures release. A Barco projector will make it possible to show the film in 4K quality.

Leading actor Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese made film history with the story surrounding a solitary taxi driver who wants to clean up the dirt of the big city. Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro), an emotionally unstable Vietnam veteran who suffers from insomnia, cruises aimlessly around the city every night. He witnesses a world where violence and brutality reign. One day Bickle buys some weapons. He is determined to take the law into his own hands.

Among other awards, Taxi Driver received four Oscar nominations and won the Cannes Golden Palm in 1976.
