When I was younger, I had to close my eyes whenever that **** came on screen.

It was way later that I learned that was Gary Oldman. I had no idea. And I liked Gary Oldman when I was a kid. He was in my favorite movie of all time, at the time.

:lol

Unfortunately not.

But I like to sneak in a session or two. I have to drink the hidden Mountain Dew becuz all my family has is Sprite. :(

But when I gots the tools...

HFR was pretty cool. Didn't bother me a bit.

I enjoyed it... but it did take a little bit of getting used to, especially when all of the dwarves were in Bilbo's home as either they were speeding up or they were on SPEED.

Great movie though and a wonderful addition to the LOTR trilogy. It'll be fanatastic in a few years to enjoy a major movie marathon of all six starting with this one. I wish they'd release the LOTR trilogy in 3D in theatres (or at least on Blu-Ray).

Sprinkle a little retconning of continuity to make it consistent with The Hobbit trilogy, along with some CG 'enhancement' to the original films into that mix and transition to George Lucas will be complete. :lol

Alot of actual filmmakers are starting to speak out against HFR 48fps. Gareth Evans (currently working on GODZILLA) appears to be making a crusade out of it :lol

I hope someone gets Spielberg's take. I'm sure he'll hate it. It seems the only filmmakers who dig it are the tech whores (Cameron, Jackson, etc). I really don't think it will catch on, thank God.

Unfortunately though I can easily see Avatar 2 making a gazillion $$$. And it's likely to be in 48fps.

Hollywood in true brainless form could easily take that to mean 48fps + 3D = win.

As they have done with regular 3D following Avatar. Which has been mostly terrible.

AVATAR 2 will be huge, of course. But I'm actually not sure that the public wants/needs 2+ more movies of that nonsense. I'm hoping it reaches critical mass and people say "Enough!" by the time the 3rd movie comes around. Besides, while Cameron may be "king of the (box office) world" he's actually been losing respect among other filmmakers. He's no longer a Pied Piper.

It did take a second for sure. Old Bilbo had some quick hand movements but other than that I didn't notice anything.

Agreed! Another fine addition and will make for a fun two day event when it's all said and done.

HATED the HFR. made the movie look like a damn soap opera.

The CGI and makeup looked horribly fake and took me out of the movie. The tone of the "film" was already a letdown to me, but the HFR made me want the movie to hurry up and end.

I don't understand how people liked HFR....I mean, so, those people liked:

Unnatural fast hand and body movements
Liked the tv quality to it
the over saturated looking daytime scenes

Yeah, theres a lot to 'love'

It sounds like The LOTR trilogy could easily be brought back in 3D in the theaters. Which in turn we will probably see 3D Blu Ray re-releases as well.
