If anyone has the special edition 3D glasses they no longer want, I'll gladly pay you for them. I have the Dwarves ones and would like to get the other four.

I remember reading somewhere that PJ planned on releasing a big box set of all the films and that he was going to add more scenes to the original films... Sooooo You might want to wait for that set...

I've purchased LOTR four times! I won't buy again. :lecture

LOL! I will :)

However I can't for the life of my find anything about such a set... So what I read may have been fan boy wishes... But it seems I remember some sort of quote by Jackson... Closest thing I could find was JAckson saying there might be a 25th Anniversary edition in which the deleted scenes would be an extra feature and not added into the film itself...

I will keep looking...

Saw it today. It's definitely the best of the three and I enjoyed it, but the CGI was awful as expected, and there was way too much of it.

Legolas is an Elf who's thousands of years old. He should be able to do all kinds of back flips and gymnastic-like **** with great ease. I love that he, Thranduil and Tauriel's hundreds (thousands) of years of experience and training showed in the battles. What I hate is how FAKE it all looked. Game of Thrones has better CGI than this trilogy. What a mess. Those big troll/goblin creatures were embarrassingly bad as was the completely unnecessary CGI on Dain...what the hell was that all about? Seeing his video-game face right next to a natural Thorin was very jarring.

Loved all the armor and weapons. If there's one thing they've done right in this trilogy it's the designs (except Azog). The dwarven armor and weapons looked exactly how you'd imagine they would, as did the elven gear.

I didn't care for Bard in the previous film, but he kicked ass in this one and I'd proudly display Weta's statue of him now.

I hate Azog but his armor and new arm weapon were such great designs that I'm not sure I could resist a statue of him in that outfit.
Agree with everything you said.

Saw Hobbit on Saturday, enjoyed it enough, but like everyone else I had a few (small) issues with it.

Smaug and Laketown felt too short, might as well have been in the end of the second movie.

I wish Alfrid had just been cut from the film, didnt really find his antics funny, just irritating and unnecessary.

For me, the Kili/Tauriel love story didn't really work, I dont think enough of their story was fleshed out to make it believable, unless she just has a short man fetish.

Legolas Super Mario'ing it on the boulders was silly, not even sure physics would allow that to happen, as his weight would just push the boulders down, speeding their fall. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Beorn for 5 seconds? why bother.

I know it has been said over and over, but too much CG. Something about watching so much CG is just tiring on the eyes and mind, and harder to get into. For the record, I'll take Lurtz over CG Azog any day of the week.

However...

I LOVED the Dol Goldur battle, Galadriel was scary, and it was cool to see Saruman fighting. Absolutely loved the Nine's Armor, wish there was a glimmer of a chance of seeing them realized as 1:6 figures.

I enjoyed the movie, and even though I have some problems with it, I will miss Middle Earth. t's still better than 90% of the stuff that gets shoved into theaters.
