if LOTR was made today NONE of these would exist in this way...none of them... damn you Peter (Lucas) Jackson... damn you :crying
(cant wait until he replaces all the creatures from LOTR with cgi... you know thats coming)

Azog and his Bolg were great characters, as good as Lurtz, Ugluk, Grishnak, and even Gothmog. :)

Cgi or not, Azog and his ***** were scary and intimidating, so despite the yogurt being in full effect, they still worked in the context of the movie.

Hell, a non cgi baddie would've actually looked out of place in these movies, think about it. :lol

How much did Mrs. Jye pay you to think this way . . .

Couple of dwarf/elf romances and people get delusions of grandeur!

Once you get over the CG, Azog was a more threatening (and scarier) villain than Lurtz. His face and body reminded me of a person I can't remember (might have been a wrestler from WWF days)

I don't understand a lot of the negativity, especially "the romance" since it was barely even there.

me neither. Only thing I disliked was the over use of CGI in spots. I would've never thought LOTR nerds would be on the same level as the SW nerds. Some people just can't enjoy something for what it is.

Kili dies in the book. He had to go like Fili and Thorin. I think a few more dwarves shoulda bought it too like the book.. I think 6 or 7 died total. I just don't remember the exact number

I never read it, but I thought Tauriel was defn gonna die from what I saw in the trailers. Now that I think about it, most of the dwarves didn't have much dialogue in this movie and were barely in it, so nobody would've really cared if they killed off more.

I don't think it helped they chose to subtitle all the orc dialogue, it's already pretty alienating that they are cg characters, I just can't relate to them. I think that's why I like the goblin town part so much.

what's so different about them using orc dialogue compared to whenever they choose to use elvish dialogue?

Yeah I remember they all pretty much bit the dust .... All that lake town crap wasn't in it either.

I'd read it again, the book will always be better

What? I just read the book a few months ago and I thought only Kili, Fili and Thorin died?

Even that would have worked better. Azog speaking in the common tongue to Thorin and co would have made him a better villain.

Odd. U are right. I remember reading this as a kid and shocked by the climatic ending. I was bummed out the dwarves died but after doing a Google search I guess it was just the 3
