LOTR is highly overrated in my opinion. I enjoyed this final instalment of The Hobbit and can't see how Return of The King is a better film. It also had it's over the top CGI and the endless battles that went on forever. The big plus with The Hobbit is not having to sit through the endless Frodo, Sam and Gollum scenes that dragged on endlessly. Bilbo is far more enjoyable to watch than Frodo was.

Delete this thread and repost it on April 1st. It would make much more sense then.

I'd imagine Jackson has read the interview with Viggo, I wonder what he has to say about it.

People really take that interview way out of context. He says nothing bad about TTT, ROTK, or The Hobbit films in it. Hell, if I recall correctly Viggo had to come out and say something that what is in it was taken a bit out of context.

Because never before actors were forced to say some apologetic crap after an honest interview under a treat of loosing their job or having bad rep (all the same thing)...

Hobbit trilogy will never surpass LOTR trilogy in quality, like never. Did I say never

But does it have to for it to still be entertaining?

And Godzilla will never and I mean never pass the Gold tooth Green Hulk like never...Neva!

I dunno, I'd say the context is pretty plain (just off the top of my head, he said Jackson relied overly much on CGI by the end and that "the genie's got him"). I don't think it's necessarily meant as a slam on Jackson, though, just that for Viggo's taste, it's too much and he preferred the earthiness of FOTR to what came after. Would definitely like to read Jackson's response.

I know for myself the CGI in The Hobbit films has taken me out of a lot of scenes in a way that never occurred with the LOTR trilogy. They're still overall great films and I'm glad to have more Middle Earth, but do wish the CGI wasn't quite so over the top.

Have you watched any of The Hobbit films in 2d regular film rate? It tones it down quite a bit.

yeah we were forced to watch it in 3D, and I can see how the CGI would of been less over bearing in 2D. I think if LOTR trilogy would of been in 3D, we would of heard a lot of the same complaints... The hobbit films were enjoyable for me, just not as much as the LOTR films.

That HFR is what makes the difference I think. It's like watching some of these actors in high definition now. You can see a lot more flaws and if the makeup is done well, you can sure she it. It makes things too....clean.

And to think Cameron wanted to use HFR 60 for Avatar 2/3, he's dropped it back down to soap opera 48. :lol

Movie sets-CGI look like ass at 48, I can only imagine 60. :slap

I liked Avatar for what it was, but talk about something that look cartoony.
