Re: The Mandalorian - 1/6th scale The Mandalorian Collectible Figure

WHY NOT BOTH, lol.

Yes, I'm aware that they are not actually roasting alien creatures on the Disney back-lot, but I also don't have, for instance, a tenderhearted six-year old watching this with me, either.

I am aware that this is a personal quirk of mine, me who is unbothered by Mando looking around at the twenty dead people he just killed to get his hands on The Asset. Go on with yourself, Mando you badass. :)

The Kowakian sure does look yummy roasted.

Ok, anyone else think the shot of the roasting Kowakian, with its buddy looking on making sad noises was.... a bit much?

If Mando bisections someone's torso using an iris-style doorway, no problem. No animal cruelty please, though.

That was in poor taste. Don't know why they did that.

Re: The Mandalorian - 1/6th scale The Mandalorian Collectible Figure

@hen88: I don?t think you understand what I?m saying. ?Human? is a relative term. Many species can look human, but they may not have the same physiological systems as Earthlings. Just because we have certain physical abilities and weaknesses doesn?t mean a human-looking alien species have the same issues. Vulcans look mostly Human, aside from the ears, but they are stronger than Humans, and their internal organs aren?t the same as ours.

I think the term you’re looking for based on what you’re describing is humanoid.

I figure:

1. Visual shorthand for This Is A Merciless Bad Place
2. Fan service

I really love this show. It?s amazing!
I?m all in for full Beskar Mando. I think he looks great in all silver.

Re: The Mandalorian - 1/6th scale The Mandalorian Collectible Figure

Whut??

If you have to follow the series until the final episode to make sure you're hooked enough.... sounds to me like you're already hooked.

I have only gotten through episode 1 so far - work/schedule issues - but even I know, there are episodes in ANY series that are not going to resonate with me. For instance, there are plenty episodes in Star Trek TOS that do NOT resonate with me, or that I found outright silly or annoying! And yet I still love it.

Let's not let the best be the enemy of the good, here.

[Plus I'm super curious to know more about Mandalorian culture]

Interested to follow it to the very end is one thing, casual audiences could easily jump onto the hype-train and do the same thing.

But to be able "hooked enough" to actually spend $$$ buying Hot Toys 's Mandalorian figures is entirely different perspective, at least in my case, because I'm a die hard SW fan.

I watched it 3x already lol

SW truly owns my soul shame I can?t afford all of those wonderful Hot Toys.

Yep, lol.

Mando has all the ingredients I need to enjoy SW; the aesthetic, likable characters, visuals, music, action, respect for the legacy and just enough surprises to keep me guessing.

Sure I can pick apart certain things. For instance if they had free reign of the raider camp why not just sneak over and put the bomb on the AT-ST instead of the hut? But eh, tactics that favor what's cool over what's logical have always been a part of SW. I've watched the new episode multiple times as well and the silly parts only give me a chuckle instead of ruffling my feathers. If this is as bad as it gets then it will be a great series indeed.

I re-watched the first three episodes like three times or something, *each.

Ep4 was just so silly, somewhat cringy and the whole plot was easily predictable. Have no enthusiasm to see it again. I didn't hate it, but it felt forgettable, and the cute baby Yoda thing is getting worn out.

I get it Baby Yoda is cute, but it starting to get ?old?!!

I also found it odd that ?Mando? and the girl (forgot her name) saw only the foot print of a AT-ST walker (not the actual walker or the base/soldiers) and devised and entire elaborate plan (teaching to fight/shot, create a pinch point etc)?..on footprints!!!

Also, there is to many ?walking? shots on this show.

Excellent point! Advising the village to relocate just because of seeing a footprint? What if it's an old one, or the mech was only passing thru and is 1000 miles away by now.

"...oops guys, sorry..... We genuinely thought... "

What I've observed by visiting this forum and many others like it is "fan-service" seems to be and does come across as a mean-spirited term that cynical clowns spout. I prefer to call them fun little nods. You can really tell that the people that have created this show truly loves the source material. The sequel trilogy snobs can really take a page from Mando's playbook.

The Mando and thicc MMA girl immediately went back to question those seemingly "innocent" villagers why didn't mention anything about this walking machinery monster to them. I believe this is a plot hole of ep4, everything was just not consistently connected in a rationale way.

Well, they needed that plan so they could rip off King Kong.

The OT hypocrites do seem to love to attack the people who are not OT groupies for not hating the non OT movies. Seems like those OT groupies are now Mandalorian man groupies and will defend everything about it without any shred of credibility.

Apologies if this has been discussed, but what's with the carbon freezer in Mando's ship? Did Boba popularize that as a method of holding prey?

Apparently.. :lol

I thought the same. I guess the real reason is it's fan service, but at the time I was thinking to myself how does it work in universe. Boba goes to Cloud City and discovers a genius method for future generations of Bounty Hunter Guild to store their prey...

It was Vader's idea.

He was testing it out on Han to make sure it would be safe to use on Luke.

Boba wasn't keen on it because he wanted to make sure Han was alive when he delivered him.

Behind the scenes?

LITTLE-KNOWN SCI-FI FACT: THE REAL REASON HAN WAS FROZEN IN CARBONITE

Contributed by Matthew Jackson

One of The Empire Strikes Back's most compelling scenes wasn't always part of the plan.

In early drafts of the second installment of the Star Wars saga, Boba Fett and Darth Vader weren't supposed to get the upper hand on Han Solo. Han was supposed to fly off with Chewie in the Millennium Falcon to fight another day. That would have set up a very different first act for the saga's third installment, but there was a complication: Though Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher both signed up for two more films after Star Wars became a hit, Harrison Ford wasn't sure he wanted to commit to that much Han Solo.

See, Ford wasn't all that impressed by Han as a character. As recently as 2010, he was wishing the character had died (though it seems he's changed his tune now), and back when Empire was being made, he still wasn't sure if he could stomach a third time out in Han's boots. Not wanting to kill the character outright, George Lucas and screenwriters Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan had instead to find a way to sort of press pause with the character, giving them both a way to dispose of him and a way to revive him if Ford decided to sign on for another film. So Han was literally frozen, and if Ford had decided he just wanted to go make more Indiana Jones movies and drop the character that had made him a star, Han would've just been stuck on Jabba's wall forever.

Of course, Ford did sign up for Return of the Jedi after all, and the carbonite freezing just wound up being a sort of detour for Han Solo. We also got that great freezing scene out of the whole affair, featuring the "I love you" / "I know" exchange between Leia and Han that wound up being a defining moment for both characters. It's hard to imagine now that we could've gotten a Return of the Jedi without Han Solo, but maybe in a parallel universe somewhere they're watching a version right now where Lando hooks up with Leia.

Well, yes.. that's precisely my point. Vader wanted to test it for when Luke arrived. Boba wasn't keen because he wanted to be sure Solo was still alive... According to newer material it must have made a good impression on him though..

Yeah Khev:clap
(and the tent was easy target, vs probably guarded prized working AT-ST that had been scrounged by the raiders after the Empire fell. IMO it's a backstory that would fit these raiders having the AT-ST at all, in the middle of nowhere. The raiders didn't strike me as ex-soldiers, just scummy scavenger types. The AT-ST was up pretty fast which meant someone was close by who could operate it. )

People don't have to watch. For me can't wait for next episode and to be able to binge watch entire series.
