I'm currently going through a quick play through Gears 1 and 2 before I play 3 so I can be fresh on everything. Perhaps I should have done that during the weekend instead of the day it was released?

I wish more of the unlocks would come from Gears PC version. I've only ever played through the PC version of the first game. Now I gotta go back and beat it on xbox to get some of the unlocks atleast one forsure.

GEARS OF WAR 3: WEAPON SKIN UNLOCKS

Weapons skins can be unlocked to customize the five primary weapons of "Gears of War 3," including the Lancer, the Hammerburst, the Retro Lancer, the Gnasher and the Sawed-off. The requirements for unlocking the skins are listed below.

GOLD LANCER
Have the Gold Lancer from "Gears of War 2" or play a multiplayer match of "Gears of War 3" in the first week.

GOLD HAMMERBURST
Have the Gold Hammerburst from "Gears of War 2" or play a multiplayer match of "Gears of War 3" in the first week.

GOLD GNASHER
Unlock the Veteran Gear achievement in "Gears of War 2."
