Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Sauron didn't "bring him back" though, did he? The 9 were men that "faded" to wraiths (just like Frodo was staring to fade towards the end) so they never died at all. "Necromancer" was never accurate.

Right they faded into wraiths. Though when Sauron was vanquished at the end of the second age they kind of vanished. They did not reappear unto the year 1300 of the TA. So it's conceivable that Sauron in the form of the Necromancer was able to recall their spirits. There is some playing with the timelines and such but its possible.

Funny how different things bug different people. :)

Indeed. I don't hate what they did but would have liked the otherway a bit better.

I don't know who Doug Adams is, and I've never heard of an OST. All I know is that the music that plays when Thorin goes to meet Azog is the same music that plays for the Nazgul in LotR.

Ill link you to his blog. He has some background with Shore. I think I one of his posts he talks about that end sequence. OST = Original Sountrack it's not the same trust me. It does start similar buts its not exact.

I mean this as no offense Mag, but I just don't understand how anyone can say Azog was a successful CGI creation. He's the most blatantly and unconvincing CGI character I've seen in a long, long time. I think what I'm trying to say is, how can some people's eyes perceive him as well-done, and others see the obvious CGI? I just don't get it.

Also, I do hope Bolg hasn't been removed from the next two films. He is listed in the credits of the first film, so I'm wondering if he was in the background of one of the flashback battles or something. He just looks so awesome.

EDIT:

Are you sure? My second viewing I had my eyes peeled for Bolg in the flashback scenes, and I saw some Orcs that looked like him, but never saw Bolg himself.

I like him as well. There are moments I have to remind myself he's CGI. Sorry :peace

Yes, Bolg is in the movie.

Yes, Bolg is in the movie.

I mean, I kind of assumed so since he was in the credits, but I was unable to find him. Guess I'll have to look again.

I don't think he does. He really to me looked very good. I really liked the look and I will buy a statue of the character as soon as Weta makes one. So like I said its not something I can say I understand your point on.

Dwalin lays a beating on him during The Battle of Azanulbizar.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

The only reason he stands out (not in a bad way) is because of the stark white coloring and the way he contrasts to his surroundings.

And he's perfectly symmetrical (ignoring his missing arm).

Speaking of his arm. Does anyone else think it had to hurt as bad having that shoved in? I mean it sticks out the other side of the arm. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

The DVD screener got leaked

I doubt there will be much impact on its box office performance but it's still disheartening knowing potentially tens of thousands will now skip the theatre.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I saw. I'm always dubious of how much impact that might have on the BO. I mean by now it's about repeat viewers and its probably folks like us looking to DL it.

True. In a way I see more good than bad coming from this. It'll generate more discussion because fans will now be able to break down and analyse every single scene.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

It could do that. I saw a picture someplace of the packaging and DVD. I'd like to have if just for the sake of having it.

Usually those screeners are marked with watermarks every once in awhile that show up on the screen. At least the Oscar screeners are.

I'm against this kind of thing but I won't get into it here. It's been debated before.

No it wont. It will do perfectly fine.

If ****ty Wolverine can make it's money back in the budget, then the Hobbit will be perfectly fine.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Azog looked like something out of God of War. Completely inconsistent with anything and anyone else in the entire series due to the obvious CGI

He didn't look any better or worse than any other cg creation in the film.

Yeah, I just don't get the hate. I'm one of the most critical people I know when it comes to CGI. I find "I Am Legend" almost unwatchable because of the CGI creatures.

I just think Azog was well done. Can I tell that he's CGI? Yes. But it's good CGI. I would say, as good, or nearly as good as Gollum.

Regardless of any claims that it's 'not identical', it's the same theme. And I found it glaringly obvious and distracting both times I watched the movie.

If the excuse is that they are trying to link that theme to Azog, then that's pretty lame. That scene is about Thorin.

That said, I would be curious to read the blog you're talking about. :peace

IMO, you only think that because of the similar to character design to that one guy in GoW (both bald).

As somebody said earlier, the fact that Azog is stark white is prolly what is making him stick out more than other CGI creatures. But that's intentional.

That azog guy scared the **** outta me.

I absolutely agree. Azog was fantastic. There was such cunning and evil portrayed through his facial expressions, particularly when treeing the dwarves. What made him obviously CGI was his facial anatomy, nothing more. He's the Darth Maul of Middle-Earth.

And his warg reminded me of those crazy dogs from Ghostbusters. :rock

Well the Uruk Hai were much more threatening looking to me because they looked REAL.

Azog looked like he was out of a video game to me.

So I didn't feel any threat level I that I should have

I know. I got it already and watched it again. That's after seeing it twice in the theatres. At least it got leaked a few weeks after release.
And it won't affect the average family going to the movie. I still like to think there is a whole market out there that has no clue about these leaks or how to download them lol

And believe me the experience is not the same compared to watching something like this on the big screen. This screener has watermarks like crazy. It's bad lol Blurred out, but still annoying.

And anyone here denying they have never downloaded a movie ever....well..
