Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

This is a MAJOR DISASTER !!! :slap

I recall the last(?) time Sideshow was flooded with complaints was about 2 years ago when they released the X-Men vs Sentinel Exclusive Diorama #1 with faulty lights :sick

How did they handle it and was it this bad?

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

So, is that oily residue that's on the SIM supposedly a catalyst to get it to dry quicker? The paint rub on mine seems to have happened while in the box. And it does show a pattern of where the SIM flops around in the box. On mine, there's either side of his spine, then there's his left bicep, and his left thing. I didn't notice any paint rubs on his abs compared to some people here. My number is in the 900's. So, I'm not sure if there's a pattern as to which numbers are affected by this paint drying/rubbing issue. If they had given enough time to dry, and then applied that oily topcoat, then things may have been better. I did notice that the black paint on certain parts was sloppy on mine as well.

Actually I think it is supposed to serve as a lubricant/protectant for the shipping journey. I don't know why Sideshow didn't just wrap these in their more premium foam paper and call it a day. Oiled up + plastic trays doesn't sound look a good idea ...

I am sure they had their reasons though.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Flippers

It looks like quite a few of the last SIM shipment is going back to SS so they wont be up on Ebay at least right now.But if your trying to sell it for at least 100% profit knowing damn well theres a great chance its going to be flawed kinda seems like a d*ck move to me. I would inspect it then be honest...JMO

They must have had a good reason to do this but I'm sure someone in China will lose his gig over this I dont think they mess around over there.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Flippers

Actually one on eBay that is flawless might command some more money than those damaged ones. :monkey1

Re: Stealth Iron Man Flippers

Agreed, the Bowen Thanos statue with no paint rub is usually higher priced on Ebay. But it is almost always mentioned in the description if theres a paint rub or not because its a pretty well known fact within the Bowen community that there was a problem with this statue during shipping so people will ask if its marked as factory sealed or never opened.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Maybe this sounds ludicrous, but in my experience with assisting in a manufacturing environment, when we become aware of a known defect on the line, we immediately halt all operations and don't process any further product until said problem has been isolated, identified, and resolved with corrective action in place to prevent future occurrences. I realize a mass recall from all in-process deliveries is probably not very realistic, but I'd inspect any remaining inventory that SS still has in house.

And scrap the whole plastic trays packaging idea and do some qual tests with just SIM wrapped in protective foam thin sheet inside styrofoam. Or maybe keep the plastic trays, but just isolate statue with foam sheet.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Sideshow should just do the right thing and issue a recall on all the damaged statues and have them fixed instead of wasting more money by shipping SIMs that possibly have scratches on them because of the packaging. I think this will give their customers a reason to be loyal and keep on buying from them. Other much smaller companies have done it why can't SS?

I'm not sure which one is considered WORST between these 2 issues, I think SS offered replacement for defective items (some took several months before receiving the actual replacement); I believed SS was able to trace the faulty light problem (some "wise" guy painted the terminal with clear coat of paint) :monkey4

I'm sure SS must've realized this paint/packaging issue by now... They need quickly implement "containment actions" to further aggravate this quality issue & liase with their offshore production line to define "corrective & preventive actions" to avoid future recurrence of similar quality problems :lecture

I don't disagree at all with what you said there, but I think the reason behind this massive error was mostly because the factory's clients, Sideshow itself, perhaps doesn't have any representative supervising the factory's day-to-day operations on their products. Essentially it is managerial staff and factory owners who are probably more concerned about money first and foremost.

Also consider that these factories also don't totally rely on ONE company for their business. They can easily say "F U!" to Sideshow and continue on rolling out products out for other big companies they do business with (i.e.: Hasbro, Mattel and perhaps other collectible companies).

Either way, I'm sure Sideshow will be having a meeting about this on Monday. :monkey1

I really feel this is a packaging issue, and not so much of a factory one. Or, maybe it's a combination of the two. A little from column A and a little from column B that is turning out so many lemons.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

I think they only sent mint ones to the deserving.. Thats why I got sent one in pristine condition.. And Eli's will arrive scuffed and broken..

The thanos screw was massive it was probly like 80% were messed what made it even worse people sent theres back and didnt get a replacement.. they got a credit!.. so the market slim for thanosm even with paint rubs. The paint rubs werent that bad on some.
A paint rub thanos can feth some good coin!.. because the numbers are lower than production. plus its a BAD@SS
