Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Wow. Where do you live? The UPS and FedEx guys in your area must suck the big one. :monkey2

You know where I live. :lol

I wouldn't place all the blame on the shipping companies because a good deal of my problems are factory and packaging related. Plus, most of the boxes come in pretty good shape and to further complicate matters it seems that when a box arrives nearly destroyed the product inside is perfect. Or when I have already decided to sell or return an item before it arrives it also comes in perfect shape. :rotfl:monkey2

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

I sent in my return request yesterday also. I'm trying to decide if I should just keep him with the flaws or send him back. If I send him back am I guaranteed to get a replacement? I don't want to send him back only to later be refunded my money and have to pay double or more on ebay...

It sounds like they are aware of a major problem and are taking steps to insure that all people who want a replacement, get one. How long that will take is another matter. If they have to set up another production run, it could take another 4-5 months before we get our replacements.

They keep a certain amount for replacements but I'm sure no company ever expects to have an problem like this where the majority of the products need replacing.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

If I were to write a list of all the damaged Sideshow items that have come to me it would seem ridiculous and highly impossible but I swear that it would be 100% legit and true.

Here is a small list off the top of my head.

Both GR statues (Flames Broken off)
Spiderman Vs. Venom (Finger poorly reglued in the factory)
Sentinel Dio #2 (A piece of Emma was broken off)
Frodo Vs. ( A piece of Frodo's clothing was missing/not in the box)
Shin Akuma (Beads scratched off paint)
Endo skull bust (Scratches on bust)
Doom LS bust (Paint rubbed off in multiple spots)
Iron Man LS Bust (Scratches from plastic packing tray)
Magneto (Broken pieces)
The list goes on....

Now, Sideshow is a great company and their customer service is tops but after a while these issues wear on the buyer and it gets annoying. I have stopped buying almost all statues that are Sideshow for this reason. It was a hassle to say the least.

Now I have also received many pieces from other companies and they were mostly fine. I have never had a problem with a Bowen piece or a piece from C.S. Moore.

if i was a company owner, this post would scare me into making sure things would be straightened out immediately. and this probably took place over a couple of years? is anyone at the qc helm?

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Got mine today, and it's the same sad story:monkey2. I don't think the plastic inserts are the culprits here. It's that the statue is loose inside the box, plus the paint problems either happened at the factory, or my guess is the lube broke down some of the paint. On one of the rubs I was inspecting, when I touched it my thumb got a little blue. Would petroleum in the lube break down the paint?

So this is what it feels like, when doves cry.

Yeah, I am pretty sure it will be a case where they have to go back and start over for the replacements. Maybe 4 or 5 months but I remember them doing the same thing with the Iron Man LS bust and everything was looking good until they REPACKAGED them with the same damn plastic that scratched the first run. So in short, people waited for nothing. Could it happen again....I think so. :rotfl

It would scare me too as a company owner. Honestly, I believe that I am not alone and others have had the same experience with Sideshow products. All of my issues really have been over the period of a year to a year and a half- that is a long list of problems for such a short amount of time!:horror:google

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Can anyone tell me what the hell this mysterious lube is? Why is it there in the first place?

It was around most of my areas of damage and I'm 100% contributed to the issue.

That's precisely it. In manufacturing, anything above a 7-10% defect rate is considered bad. This (60-80%) is a disaster.

Believe me, as bad and frustrated as we feel there are some at Sideshow who feel worse and I'm sure somebody will have to answer for this.

There have been two theories floated around:

1) It was used in an attempt to preserve the paint finish and prevent precisely what has ended up happening (abrasions and scuff marks).

2) It's some kind of something used to kill any potentially hazardous chemicals in the paint or from the plant.

I tend to think #1, though obviously the design of the internal packaging was a huge misstep and backfired.

The irony is that Sideshow would likely have SAVED money by simply doing without the plastic inserts and just wrapping the statue in the same foam wrap as the base. They would have saved money and I guarantee most of the products would not have had the flaws we're seeing. Instead, someone came up with a REALLY bad idea that was not only more costly to package... it wound up resulting in a huge defect rate in delivered product. Somebody is in huge doo-doo over this one.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Bottom line(I think anyway) this is gonna cost SS $$$ and customers.

Re: Stealth Iron Man Problems- Post the specific flaws you see on yours.

Trust me P!TU it is the packing. The right arm on mine is barely hanging there. :lol You will see soon.

It will cost them $$$$, no doubt. But how many customers it cost them will depend on how they react to and handle the situation. So far, I think they're doing fine and knowing how their CS works I'll continue to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The big picture question, of course, is... What are they going to do to try and prevent something like this from ever happening again? I personally find no need to press them on that. There is no way they are happy with what is happening with this item, either.

At the end of the day, it's disappointment and inconvenience for us... but a heck of a lot more than that for them.

Re: STEALTH IRON MAN PICS

I just spoke with Inthia and Sideshow is more than willing to help me correct the problem. I won't share details because frankly my conversation with them is non of yah business. However, when you call email or whatever if you get a broken one they will surely help you out. So I would suggest calling them before judging. This is not directed at you Zoid by the way. Just like Dusty said. Call them and they will help. Simple! :rock

We should start a horror story thread in the Ask Sideshow section for QC issues.

My list would be huge as well!!

the reason people freaked was not because they didn't think that ss would have a problem with a return, it's that there is a possibility that if you return yours, you won't get a replacement. as rory attested, he didn't get an im ls bust replacement. i believe dusty was quoted as replacements would be on a first come basis, which would mean not everyone is guaranteed to get one. :(
