Here's the other clue, the people they were supposed to meet for dinner had "convenient" excuses not to be there... that's when I knew, the hitman at the bar sealed it for me, Tony was a sitting duck, the cut to black with silence confirmed it for me...

Convenient excuses? This was an out of town guy that Phil probably set up prior to his death when he saw that his guys weren't getting it done. The guy's been tailing Tony for awhile waiting for him to let his guard down and to be away from other made guys...

When watching I thought Tony would live on... now I am agreeing that he is dead. I don't mind that he is dead I just wish we could have seen it.

From a creative point of view I think it is awesome to end the show like that because fans will debate it whenever the topic comes up.

I think Darth and Paul are both right.

Tony got whacked.

But, by not showing it, the option for a movie is still open.

Its a way to end the show without indefinitely ending the show.

I want to think Tony got whacked, it makes perfect sense.

BUT, $$$$$$ will rule the day.

I want there to be NO movie, and wish Chase would have shown Tonys death.

i agree but why the cut to black if he didn't get clipped? seems like they would have zoomed out of the cafe/restaurant if he didn't get clipped. but then again maybe he wanted to portray the uncertainty of the mafia life and wanted us to feel that and he didn't die. but i think he died.

Movie or no movie, Sopranos, the kick ass reason to watch HBO on Sundays is over:monkey2 :monkey2

What about Deadwood and Rome!!! oh.... wait.....

I do enjoy Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, and I know I will like the new show Flight of the Conchords....

Even though those shows are really good... they are not The Sopranos.

They each had an excuse, that was enough for me that this was a set up, one excuse maybe, but 2 different ones? Unlikely...

chase wanted everyone watching to come to their own conclusion on how the show and series ends. sure wasn't no fredo saying hail marys in a boat on lake tahoe. i was disappointed. after all, aren't we paying hbo to watch and isn't hbo paying chase to give us closeure in the series? it's like a relative that's gone missing. you don't know what happened to them but you do know they're gone.

The question then is----- who set up the hit if it wasn't one that Phil had organized prior to his death...?

Options.

No clear ending means they can make a movie.

Or not make a movie, and leave the ending to be forever debated my fans.

Doesn't matter, it was a set up, the guests knew, the hitman was there, Tony's dead... he agreed he would never be the type for witness protection SO that is the ONLY other conclusion you can draw.

Thing is, Tony knew it was coming but at least Chase let him have his moment, his famiiy was finally at peace, and that was more important to Tony...

in my world tony lives. since it wasn't made clear or not, i choose life for tony.

I just feel bad for his family who watched their husband and father get murdered infront of them. The family might be at peace during the final moments but now they will all be calling Dr. Melfi to make appointments.

we don't know for sure it was a hitman, could have been an fbi agent.

Do you mean Tony knew he was gonna get whacked, and let it happen??

If so, I dont think so. He was the most selfish person in the world, no way he would knowingly give up his life.

He knows that without him, his family would not have the life he they have now. In his eyes, the only way his family can survive is through him.

WOW! I feel bad for anyone who has invested in this show for the past 6 seasons. LOL! What a sham!

No, he knew it was coming, he's a smart guy. You really think the rest of the Tri Boro Mob were gonna let a Boss run around court ratting them out, he knew too much, knew it was coming eventually, believe me he was always a realist and this thing was coming to a head, the scene with his lawyer layed all the cards on the table, that's my point, he even tried to make peace with his uncle, what does that tell you? Plus he would never agree to a deal with the feds so he had to know he still had a target on his back and it was just a matter of time.
