If it makes anyone else feel better, I purposely chose the NON-Ex and could have done otherwise. The EX has a few issues that I think kill the piece (well not KILL it but make the Reg Version better for me):

1- The lack of skin on the closed hand being exposed (due to the fist weapon) make it VERY "silver" which drowns out the red on the piece. There is no contrast on that part so it all seems to blend together.

2- The armor is flat edges and sharp points making the fist weapon on the Ex very inconsistent with the flow on the armor. The hand armor on the Reg version seems like it fits much better.

3- The fist on the Ex seems to be OVER clenched as if he would break his wrist if he actually were to hit anything like that.

The Reg Edition has the menacing claw type open hand that is consistent with other pieces (Wiki/ Ringwraith) and the red hand combined with the nails etc makes it very accurate.

Not to pop anyone's bubble because how a piece looks is very subjective but it seems the hype train is running full steam due to a possibly LOW ES. Both are good but, for me, the Non-Ex is the better piece.

Cheers to those who got the EX and actually like it better though.

Also to add to that the Uruk-Hai doesn't have any hair which all Uruk-Hai (except the Berserkers) have

So why not pay the same amount, buy the one with the significantly lower ES and just display it with the open hand?

Because there are people who would want the Ex and since I knew I would not flip it or display the EX hand it would be selfish to lock one of them up. Sue me....I am a nice guy.

You are too Woodsy....why didn't you think of my reasoning?

If my question came off as sounding critical, then I apologize. That wasn't my intent, I was just curious. I understand your reasoning. It's just that sadly, and all too often, we read about board members who, for one reason or another, have to sell off parts of their collections. At the very least, if or when that day comes, it's nice to know that you can sell your stuff faster and be guaranteed to at least break even. Esp. since there isn't alot of LOTR item's these days where you can even recoup your investment.

No worries man. That is actually sound logic. I guess I always look at the Ex as "better" then the reg and this one didn't strike me that way but you have a good point.

And??? My point is lcummins and quite a few seem unable to grasp this, is that SS should have a system whereby we in the EU don't have to shop in the early hours of the morning if we want to be in with a chance of getting something, it's unreasonable and unfair. It's also quite clear to me that the people on here who don't have a problem with this either A) live in the US or B) don't have jobs that require an early start or require one to be 100% sharp and have had a night's sleep. We're not all night owls, is that allowed?? because I get the feeling from the retorts I keep getting that it's uncool to be in bed by midnight and want or indeed NEED to get a night's sleep!!
Stop assuming everyone on here is in the same boat as you.

Firstly, I was not assuming you were in the "same boat" as me. My response was to your comment that "staying up till 1;30am not an option esp when there is no warning or guarantee there will be anything of interest up for PO", that you made for the second time. I was not trying to upset you or say that you didn't have a valid point... only that we knew it was coming, and if one has been buying from Sideshow for a while, one knows to expect anything... exclusives, low edition sizes, in-stock products, etc. Virtually all of the LOTR products have been announced and previewed, and then pre-ordered the following week, except for the faux bronze Fellbeast/Eagle diorama to the best of my knowledge.

Try being a Universal/Classic Monster collector! There have been 4 SSE 1:1 busts (average edition size 62), 10 SSE premium formats and 1 base (average edition size 187), and 2 SSE dioramas (average edition size 50);most of them have gone up with virtually no warning as to what they were (other than horror related) and 80% or more were in-stock at that! One was even a lottery where you weren't guaranteed of getting it unless your name was picked! Try those odds... low edition size, in-stock and no warning!!!

In conclusion, all I can say is if you have been purchasing from Sideshow for a while and have been paying attention, then you should expect the unexpected and be prepared for it! Of all the monster items that I mentioned above, I haven't missed ordering a single one!

And did you order any of those at 2am in the morning?

Yes, in fact, I did!!! The Silver Screen Edition Frankenstein VS Wolf Man Diorama was the most recent example... went up about 3AM my time during Spooktacular, with no warning of when it would go up!

Well all I can say then is congratulations. I have to get up for work at 6am so being up at 2 or 3 just on the chance that something might come up isn't an option.

Oh and another one where we've had a sneak peek and didn't then get to order was the Legolas PF - good job I didn't wait up for that one too... :)
