Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Shane and the rest could have just left Hershys Farm and slept somewhere else. :dunno

Figured the little girl would be in there and that Rick would give her a third eye, though I think her mom capping her would have been better.

Surprised there was no extra few seconds spent on Hershy's wife getting put down.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

True. Guess he didn't have to unload the mag on them. But they are walkers and fewer the better. they can only do harm at this point.

Anyone else see Andrea jump to front just before Shane started the shooting? She's turning pretty hardcore.

First time was shooting Otis.
Second time was shooting the walkers in the barn.

Both times I thought he was a ____.
Both times I reevaluated his actions and decided, "Yep. Dude's right".

Really? Are we watching the same show? Cause it was CLEARLY explained when Jimmy runs into the house and tells Hershel "It happened again." Next scene Rick, Hershel and Jimmy go and get the Walkers out of the creekbed. Hense Hershel/Jimmy found Sophia in the same predicament and lead her into the barn with the snare. :slap

Dear lord

No :slap

I know that they freaking got her in the barn with the snare what i want to know actually is when did they get her in. Maybe she wondered in. Btw that thing with jimmy didnt explain anything really.

As for the barn, I don't think he needed to do that. It wasn't his place, and if he couldn't deal with the fear, he's got a car. GTFO Shane. The barn was secure, but more importantly, it wasn't his farm. His need for shelter doesn't trump Hershel's right to do what he will with his own property.

The need for shelter is a basic need and trumps a right to property. This is, afterall, a survival show.

I personally feel Shane's reaction was a challenge to authority, to leadership, and for alpha male status. I don't feel as though it had anything to do with survival.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The group had a decision to make, whether they were aware of it or not.

a) Leave
b) Stay

I agree that it wasn't Shane's decision to make. But Lori's pregnancy changed everything. If they opt to leave, Lori is in great danger which puts everybody else in greater danger. If they stay, there is a barn full of walkers which they assume is secure (though nothing is truly secure from human error). So what to do? The decision makers where either being selfish or too mired in customary respect. So Shane decides for them and yes, he was motivated by making a move to be the leader.

Simples.

With a show like this there are really no right or wrong just the consequences of your actions. Society has broken down so most of the social rules are gone. We have seen some of the consequences for the actions of Shane and Rick. The show is great because it brings up these types of discussions.

Disagree. Right and wrong decisions are exponentially more important. The right decision keeps you save and the wrong decision gets you killed. Keeping those walkers in the barn was wrong. Eventually, there'd be too many to contain, they'd break out and the group would have a herd to deal with. Lives would likely be lost when they broke out. Better to deal with the issue while it's still relatively safe. Yes, it's a wake-up call for Hershall, but he can't deny what he saw.

I usually watch it at your mom's house.:nana:. She makes the best cookies.

Ps dont get offended by what I just said. It was a joke and not really meant to insult you.

He meant you can't get caught up in philosophical questions of what is morally right or wrong when the world is in survival mode.

I agree. My reply you quoted was solely based on the OP's argument of shelter vs right to property.
