Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

That's a big assumption.

They would still only have four more people in the camp and only three guns with limited ammo. Actually, they'd only have three people because Daryl would be in Atlanta looking for his brother.

And since Rick did go for the guns and set Merle free, how exactly is Shane's lack of leadership in protecting the camp vindicated? :huh

Daryl wouldn't have gone if Rick had agreed to lie which would've only benefited the group. There likely wouldn't have been a zombie attack that evening and they could've made a more organized attempt later, to go after the guns left behind.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Nice to see this thread is still kicking. :D

Cool video and that was one weak ass slap by Maggie, I expected a little more smack than that.

LOL! February 12th can't get here soon enough! :impatient:

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

And in the end, his stubborn idiocy will wind up costing him Maggie who'll leave with the group to the prison.
^^^ Pixy, I know you're a spoilertag whore, but don't read that! ^^^

I have a bad feeling about this spoiler.

Problem is though, the "Vatos" also had their eyes on the guns aswell. If Rick and co. had waited to organize a plan, there is a fairly good chance the bag of guns would been gone by the time they got there. Other than that I agree.

I dunno, the vatos looked considerably less organized than they did. Them being there probably saved the little mouthy one's life given he was likely the one to go grab the gun bag (which I doubt he could carry) and would've wound up zombie bait tripping all over it and bringing even more undead attention to it. :lol

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

While I do think Merle took the van, I don't think he led any zombies back to the camp. BY taking the van he gained a means of escape (and temporary shelter) from the zombies in Atlanta. He probably also did it as an FU to the people from the camp group who left the van there.

Putting aside the logistics of exactly how Merle would lead a pack of zombies to the camp site without being heard or eaten himself, why would he do it without knowing if Daryl was there or not?

Because it would be soooooo hard to bait walkers into the truck, right? "Hey ____face, OVER HERE MAGGOT BASTARDS!" *climbs into the back of the truck* "Come eat me you wretched ____s!" *waits until walkers start climbing in then crawls into cab and secures the panel and drives a bit until it's safe to get out, run around and close the back* At that point, it's just a matter of driving up close to the camp and opening up the back of the truck. The Walkers would do the rest.

I don't see him being smart enough to take the opportunity to flee. He seemed like the kind of person who'd be hell bent on revenge for what happened. Especially after having to cut off his hand. Judging by the hallucinations we saw with Daryl, he probably figured Daryl could take care of himself.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I don't think a man who just chopped off his own hand would have much left in him to sit around plotting his revenge on the outside chance Rick would show back up with a truck he could conveniently bait full of zombies to take back to the camp. Considering the zombies were already at the chained door and no doubt smelling the blood he was letting he more than likely got the ____ outta dodge.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

And if he didn't, yours with Shane would be standing on the same rickety legs that Shane's love affair with himself are.

It still doesn't change the fact that Shane is better suited to survive in this world and lead the group than Rick (at this moment in the series).

But zombies weren't at the chained door and I never said it was plotted it. It could just as easily have been a matter of convenience and a quick idea when he spotted the truck. Add that with the fact that it's awfully ironic that a small amount of zombies just so happened to attack the camp that night.

This. Also Daryl himself said Merle would be "taking some vengeance back to camp" when they saw the truck was missing.

Only video of it I could find was in Spanish but hit the 1:47 mark.

And yet, they were gone when Rick and co arrived and given the burner was still warm, just shortly after Merle had left. Zombies weren't there dude, otherwise they would've had to take them out at the stairwell. :lol

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Zombies probably were there. Merle went out the door on the other side of the roof.

Still, it's a red herring that Shane is better suited for a zombie infested world. All he's doing is dispensing with any semblance of morals to achieve his goals. The same argument can be made for any thug in any conditions where no one has taken the initiative to stop them.

Further, the truck had no access to the cab. Merle was in shock, handicapped, probably brain damaged from dehydration and exposure, and it's just as feasible that he's dead. More feasible, actually. If an imaginary contingency is the only thing that delineates Shane as capable and Rick as incapacitated by a conscience, there is no argument for Shane's superior point of view.

Wrong. Rick went through it to open the back of the truck at the loading dock. :wink1:

And Merle's not dead, he took the truck. Or did the zombies just go joyriding in it? :dunno :lol

Also, you're getting Shane mixed up with Merle. They're two different animals. One's behavior is fitting to the environment and survival while the others is selfish and destructive.
