There's nothing sexy about Harley's outfit in Suicide Squad. It's an odd choice for a male kid to dress like that, though... and let alone, for his father to encourage it. That can't be said enough :lol.

Would you discourage your little girl from wearing a Batman outfit to SDCC? Doesn't mean she wants to be a boy.

Well, a lot of girls (and women) who dress up as male characters, always put a "gender-bender" spin on their costumes to make them look feminine. But, whenever the dudes dress as female characters, they just want to look feminine.

If I had a little girl, I'd figure she'd probably want to dress as Batgirl (but, Batman doesn't really have a lot of female fans :lol).

There's Batgirl, Batwoman (although her story isn't really appropriate for kids), Spoiler or Carrie Kelly Robin, etc.

I'll never understand this gender is a fake thing nonsense

You guys didn't really answer the question so I'll change it a bit....

If your 10 year old daughter wanted to go to SDCC dressed as Iron Man or any other MALE character, would you let her?

Gender isn't fake. I think there are people out there who wish they were asexual and want everyone else to be too.

Probably. And that's my honest answer. Male superheroes don't really have any defining characteristics, that make them exclusively "male". Thor's helmet (or his Mjolnir hammer), Iron Man's armor, Spider-Man's costume, Superman's outfit, or even Captain America's costume can all can look very well on a girl. However, when you start dressing a boy in a pink wig, and fishnet stockings, it looks like he's being emasculated. Of course, I'm taking into consideration, that Harley's costume from Suicide Squad is very tamed, compared to many other female comic book/movie characters.

I'll also say, that a 10 year old kid needs a firm hand. If they want to dress up as something, their parents should approve of it first (and ultimately, it's up to the parents to decide on what's appropriate or not for their child).

Thats a total BS argument, harley quin ln is a sexualized character. Always has been ( except in the cartoon maybe) every single game has her in sexy outfits, her own comics as well.
That kid can do whatever the hell he wants, but you cant compare batman or ironman with harley :lol :lol

A much better question would be,
if your daughter wanted to dress up accurately as HE man or What if she wants to go as leonidas from 300? Would u let her?

Thats the question you should be asking. Because those would be similar to harley in sex appeal

He didn't dress up sexy did he? And he obviously watched Harley from the movie. And no I wouldn't let her go as those characters because that would involve nudity.

Good god. smh

I guess theres no real equivalent because male heroes arent really ever dressed slutty.
Call it the fault of the patriarchy or the sexist standards in comic books, but theres no real equivalent in slutty-ness as harley quinn.
The only examples i could think of involved nudity... most heroes are fully dressed or have armor.

And sure, the kid himself didnt dress like real harley, but the connection is still there. The connection to the slutty crazy character in the movie. Some people are mad because when they see the kid they immediately are reminded of the movie

It is even taboo to dress a daughter as harley quinn. Last year there was this pic of a girl dressed as harley that created a lot of controversy. A lot of people were angry at the mom that allowed it.
The girl looked similar to this kid. But people were pretty aggressive at hating the mom in that case.

Besides some of the comments about this kid (and that other girl) on facebook are absolutely disgusting, the kids outfit is not that bad yet some people are truly sick in the head.......

Would you let you kid ( boy or girl) to dress like rocky horror picture show's frank n further?

Suicide Squad should have never been made to begin with. Everything in that "film" was borderline cringe-worthy.

I would seriously pay someone to never have to hear about that overrated dreck again.

I would say no, this isn't Halloween, don't be one of those narcissists that just walks around seeking approval from others. There's no reason anyone wears a costume to a show other than to get attention
