I just meant that LOTR lived up to the expectations that fans of LOTR had. But the PT did not live up to expectations that fans of SW had.

Both trilogies had huge expectations placed on it by fans, critics, etc. I think its kinda lightning in a bottle that LOTR met them.

King Kong also had huge expectations from PJ fans, Kong fans, critics, etc but I think it was a let down.

LOTR was a rare exception in entertainment where all the build up and hope was not let down.

Also, I agree 100% that TPM feels like a film all the way through and is really the only one I can watch in 1 sitting. AOTC and ROTS I pretty much will only put in the DVD player to watch a specific scene when I get a figure from that movie or something.

ROTS is loads better than AOTC, but its kinda a mismash of too many scenes. As cool as Grevious is, I think they would have made a better film if they cut out the Utapau parts and just had Obi-Wan kill him nearer the begining.

I love the Utapau part. For me, once the space battle is over, once Obi-Wan is on the Star Destroyer talking with Cody, that's where the movie picks up again. It was fun before the film turned dark with the death of the Jedi.

Younger fans love PT - Older fans love OT ?!?! WTF?!?

Don't know if there allready exist a thread like this but I just wanted to give my opinion about the assumption that if you're born with the OT you love the OT and if you're born with the PT you love the PT. ;)

I'm from 1992 and never saw the OT in the cinema. I grew up with watching the SE OT on VHS and after that TPM also on VHS. I loved TPM because of the special effects and the battle with Darth Maul. When ATOTC came out on VHS I saw it with my parents and after the movie we all looked at eachother and saying "Was this it?". And when ROTS came out in the cinema I got to it with a party of a friend. I loved ROTS and thought it was awesome.
But since a few years I began to understand the story more, read more books about the making of the movies and saw some documentaries. And after that I began to understand what made the OT so awesome. I may not be from the "older" generation, but I prefer the OT above the PT, Think TESB is the most awesome movie of the saga and hate Jar-jar (who doesn't :lol)
You guy's may think "Oh Look there is another young fan that wants to be cool by saying the PT is crap and the OT is awesome"
But that isn't the case. (and if you're thinking it I don't care :nana:)

Just wanted to say this :D

Re: Younger fans love PT - Older fans love OT ?!?! WTF?!?

I just want to know what part of 92' you're from. East side or west?

Re: Younger fans love PT - Older fans love OT ?!?! WTF?!?

Re: Younger fans love PT - Older fans love OT ?!?! WTF?!?

I should start loving PT more then.

Some threads just need to be merged... and then submerged. :monkey1

Share the love... PT... OT... OPP... Yeah, you know me...

I think a PF Queen Amidala in the Red Naboo Invasion gown would be brilliant and the perfect companion to the PF ANH Leia. GREAT suggestion by Neil.

Maul has already been done to the full by SSC (1:1 Bust, 1:6 Figure, and PF) but I would not at all mind a Naboo Duel Diorama. :rock

Would also like some Watto stuff. Love that character.

And as annoying as they may be, I actually dig Nute Gunray and Rune Haako and would love 1:6 figures of them. Definitely need a 1:6 TPM Obi-Wan as well.

I thought they had done a diorama of this already.....

I'd like a Gungan PF too..think it would turn out great.

I personally love The Phantom Menace, best of the prequel movies...I don't have any issue with it at all. Also, it got me back into collecting certain Star Wars items.

I've always liked TPM. I would like it if it were shown a little more collectible love.

as far as the PT, i think The Phantom Menace is the strongest. i really dug certain scenes from both AOTC and ROTS, but TPM worked best as a whole... Liam Neeson, Darth Maul, the actual sets in Tunisia (as opposed to green screen)... it felt more like a movie where the other two felt like a bunch of scenes sewn together.

i like this movie. i just think there is too much of a time gap between this and EPII because anakin is so young when they meet him. a lot of stuff must happen between TPM and AOTC but we don't get to see it. they should have cast anakin much older in this film and had AOTC occur just a few years later. maybe change the story a little.

they should have jumped into the film with an older obi wan instead of qui gon and then anakin as his padawan. they could have followed the same plot and had anakin enter the pod race using his "unrivaled jedi powers" to try to win money to fix their ship. maybe while they were on Tatooine Anakin could have stumbled onto some of his own history which was always a mystery to him cuz he was taken away when he was young. this could have started some distrust between him and the Jedi cuz he would feel lied to or betrayed. i don't know. just my imagination running wild.

But I feel the meeting of them is quite important, it was just poorly done. Ugh..I want to rewrite the prequels.

Oh and I forget to leave out Midichlorians. Spelling?

if they would have met him as he was fighting off a pack of wild sandpeople that would have been cool. meeting him at a junkyard....borrrrrr-ing.

and you can't get rid of midichlorians. they reside in your cells.

I like the idea of the Sand people...it would really foreshadow Luke meeting up with Old Ben that fateful day.

Yes but they should be erased from Star Wars is what I'm saying.
