Just the way it is? But isn't "being lumped in with a group" exactly the type of thing we've supposedly been fighting against here in the first place??? :lecture

Josh, don't fall for that crap. You're not responsible for the evils of anyone but yourself. And I'm quite sure you're a good guy.

Seriously, cause I'm from an imigrant family on both sides that have been here less than 80 years. I didn't do ^^^^ to anyone! ^^^^ THAT!! I don't feel guilty over any of that stuff.

No. That isn't in any way relevant to modern man. We were educated and we knew better. The reason why so much racism exists on BOTH sides is BECAUSE we didn't abolish slavery immediately upon becoming a country. Now hate has infested both sides and it will not end any time soon.

As far as reverse racism... I know.. I've been through it. I was jumped several times, two of those times it was an entire GANG of African-Americans. So I KNOW what it's like. It was unforgivable. But we set that ball in motion.

I don't have hate, and I don't believe I personally set anything in motion for anyone to have ill feelings against me for what happened 200 years ago or even 30 years ago.

That said, I am personally making an effort to not celebrate the joke that is Columbus Day.

Anyway, I don't think Michele Obama's thesis isn't valid. I also don't think its any more relevant than say, Palin's opinion on abortion for raped girls.

I would hope that anyone elected knows the difference between personal opinion and public law. None of us should be freaking out, frankly.

I'm not saying that I WANT people lumped into groups. But they are. America is still filled with a lot of ignorant souls, and they do the lumping. I am only trying to break down those barriers by being fair and equal to everyone, and shining light on the injustices that still exist.

I'm not responsible for any evils of racial or religious oppressions, I take part in none. But America did what they did, and we as a people are suffering for it. End of story.

So how do you get rid of racism? Is it by continuing to harp on it 200 years later? 20 years later? At some point if you want to move on, it's going to take an effort.

:google

you will...you will. It will happen to all of us...:mummy

lol.

Ummm...

I can only think of one response to that:

no.gif

(I haven't gotten to use that one in a long time. ;))

I trust him because he seems to genuinely want to change things for the better, he's not altering his position later just to appease potential voters, and I also like that he shares my views on many subjects.

Plus he enunciates and intelligent.

(I mailed in my ballot today, guess who I voted for? :D)

Oh my God Josh, Obama has flip flopped more than any other candidate in recent times. I'll geet some examples if I get the time. Nuclear Power comes to mind for starters. Same with his stance on the surge, although he still won't admit it was a successful move.

So let's put the racism issue to bed and move back to what we were really talking about, and what really matters. The frakin election!

I agree. The election is the issue not some BS paper his wife wrote 20+ years ago.

My words are being spun into points that I am not trying to make. The only thing I was saying is that any people who were oppressed are very likely to pass that sentiment along, and it's natural considering how short a time has passed since it "ended".

Nobody here is to blame for anything, or should be. That was never my point.

I agree. What should frighten some people is that in Wasilla, they charged rape victims for their rape kits. She was mayor at the time, so she should have known. I lol'ed on the Daily Show yesterday "Jon, they were raped, not robbed!!" I will admit this frightens me because it goes back to a governing decision.

Well you don't get rid of it by ignoring it, and pretending it never happened. You shine light on it, do your best to make it right, and move on. But even once you move on, it is never forgotten.

It will eventually go away on it's own. It will be a footnote in history, a story. But it just needs time.

I am just glad I am mostly German, so I have nothing to be ashamed of with regards to my heritage.:lol:lol:lol

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Kerry was a flip flopper... Obama not so much. He's changed his mind on a few things, but not like that. And the Surge doesn't matter to me... especially in a War that I think we should have never gone through with in the first place.

Not crazy at all, what I'm trying to drive at is finding whether people are cheering on Obama because he's the democrat on the ticket or cheering on Obama because he's Obama.

If anyone is really voting for Obama because he's Obama, I want to know who they think Obama is. Maybe I'm not traveling in the right circles to know what he's ever done in government. What bills he's proposed, etc. Right now he just seems like all glitter to me.

I agree 100%.

Everyone is saying, "What has Palin done to show she's qualified?" Same could be asked of Obama, who's running at top of the ticket. Obama has a bad record of voting "present" while serving his very short term in the Senate when he wasn't on the presidential campaign trail. That's not a very good leader, one who won't take a side or stance. Name me one action that Obama has done to directly improve people's lives. I think he co-sponsored two bills that passed, and they must have been pretty insignificant because he isn't using those bills in his campaign or I would have heard of them.

And don't me me that lame ass "He's a community organizer" line. What the hell is that? Who does that help? What, he organizes some fun raisers to fill his financial campaign coffers some more from questionable sources?

Just tell me a couple of things that are REAL and Tangible and verifiable on what he has specifically lead or significantly contributed on to improve peoples lives.

Truth is a lot of places were doing that, not just Alaska. Its definately stupid, but maybe it wasn't on her radar.

I've been through Chicago and feared for my life trying to catch a cab near Midway.

How much time do you need? How many blacks (and whites, because there were white slaves as well) are still alive that were involved in anything to do with slavery? Everyone knows about it, everyone knows it existed, it's already a footnote. If I write a paper tomorrow about being discriminated my whole life as a white athlete what is it going to serve? What does her paper serve? Is she enlightening the world that blacks were once discriminated upon? The only thing she is doing is thumping a situation to try and keep it current.

We posted a good bit of it a few pages back. And dude, you are my friend and all... but your posts all seem like propaganda lines and BS. I feel like I am reading a transcript from FOX News.

No disrespect meant... :peace
