How could there have been that many people wanting to get in one walmart? Im in a little town and theres five walmarts within 20 min of my house.

Another bit of "Wow" from the article:

A shopper at a Wal-Mart in Farmingdale, 15 miles east of Valley Stream, said she was trampled by a crowd of overeager customers, the Suffolk County police reported. The woman sustained a cut on her leg, but finished her shopping before filing the police report

That's horrible... People are freaking insane.

At my Wal-Mart yesterday, some guy punched a woman in the face (knocking her out) because they were fighting over the same Xbox. Really puts a distaste for the human race in one's mouth.

thats is totally insane.
I was shocked when I heard the news last nite.
Are people that desparate to save a dollar.

No just truly lost!

They should make it an on-line only thing. :lol

Or better yet hand out some ef'n tickets outside in the line so the a-holes pushing from behind know they've missed out. I remember Business Depot doing this here 14 years ago when they had door crashers.

WTF???????? Unbelievable! K, K, he hit a woman in the mouth over a game system? Whats next a granny walker by shooting over stolen depends? :google

this is ridiculous. the fact that they didn't even close the store??? sorry, but if i was the manager i would've closed all the registers had the police retain the people responsible, and the workers in the sporting goods bring some loaded shotguns up front.
~~honestly, i don't know why walmart didn't have security or police present this crap happens every year so why not try to prevent it.
~~and yes whoever suggested the on-line only black friday deals i completely agree with.

I have a feeling that if they had shut down the registers, the mob that had already broken down the doors (and taken a human life in the process) would have completely trashed and looted the store. The manager was probably wetting his pants at that point.

i know at my walmart there were cops keeping the piece...it worked, people who had warrants had to keep it cool :lol

Yeah, these things are ridiculous.

At the Best Buy last year the line probably had like 500 people in it, there were cops there along with employees all down the line.

Seems Walmart didn't really handle it correctly.

People get crazy with shopping sales. My folks said Wal-Mart had the stuff covered with black tarp but people where ripping at it so they could get their paws on it early. Its just sad that some people value getting a deal so much that they will give up their caring for other people.

Exactly why Terminator 2 scares me "it's in your nature to destroy yourselves." Stuff like this disgusts me and makes me wonder what kind of future the world has. If society is willing to do ^^^^ like this for a flat screen TV, where is the line drawn. It's everyone's fault though, not just the shoppers, but the stores and the manufactures with their greed to, hiding stock, forcing supply and demand, well look at the demand you create, turns every shopper into a ravenous monster.

The sad part is, for the electronics, you can pretty much find the same deals online.
