While The Ultimates and Charles Rovens', Emma Thomas' and Lorne Orleans' The Dark Knight Rises will release on home entertainment the once, the Hobbit will release then get and EE version then a trilogy version.

So that's more home entertainment sales right there

If you want to compare this to LotR, you have to go with the Fellowship totals since both were part ones and Fellowship opening weekend was $47 million whereas The Hobbit made $37 million on Friday alone. This is domestically in the US totals right now.

We have to wait till part three to compare it to RotK.

It's just way too early to predict anything.

Fellowship was in theaters for 34 weeks! I don't think they keep movies in theaters that long anymore. They want to cash in on the DVD sales now. The Avengers was in for 22 weeks which I think nowadays is pretty long.
