^Conversely, I have heard nothing about this film around where I live to the point where I completely forgot it's coming out. Not that it won't make good money, but the big blockbuster films I'm usually hearing about at school and work with facebook being littered with people tagging themselves at the theaters for midnight showings. Nothing on that end here. I don't see it breaking either honestly. And personally I'm more exciting for Django Unchained anyway.

:hi5: :yess:

Another guy who I think fits squarely into that category is. . .Peter Jackson :monkey3

Fixed :lecture

Even the Avengers didn't sell out around here. Or the Dark Knight. Bigger cities I'm sure it did. Sellouts are rare here.

At my nearest multiplex, both TDKR and Avengers midnight showings were sold out weeks in advance. There was open seating last night for The Hobbit. :huh

Did you go? I didn't think you saw it?

I think it was Josh who said where he was at there were seven sold out screens there.

I think there are alot more comic fans than fantasy fans and those movies also draw the kids. Timing is everything as well.

This is no way this is going to top Avengers, but it might TDKR. Who knows? I don't really care either way.

Yeah, there were at least that from what the theater manager said. So it did well where I was at and $115 million to start is a number I'd take gladly.

Local AMC had sold out quite a few screens in advance, all the one's they offered. Not sure how many that was, but I believe it was around 6-8. Including their Imax screen. Cinemark around here also sold out all showings, with their XD theater included.

Also, why does how much money a movie makes matter?

Business took a big hit as the day went on. Looking like a $96 weekend. CinemaScore from audiences was an A so that is at least a positive for some legs, but I'll stick with my initial bet. Under $100 and its competing with Hunger Games for third domestically and Skyfall worldwide.
