Soon you'll be invested in Bilbo Baggins leaving his home and OCD's behind to help 13 dwarves in a quest to reclaim their gold and homeland from a big ass villain that catches people on fire.

On the way to this adventure, you'll meet "new" characters who are the pivotal characters in the destruction of the ring.

Hopefully, unless this movie sucks.

Killing Smaug > Destroying da Ring

Time will tell.

I'm not worried about more of the same, what concerns me is that the emotional climax for middle earth has occurred already with the destruction of the ring. I was invested in the journey to save middle earth, I hope I can connect again with this new set of movies.

See, hates his fans. :rotfl

Thats the thing isn't it, its the whole Star Wars prequel saga; we already know the end, we already know what Bilbo passes on, we already know have the struggles of the fellowship of the ring; the different races pulling together to save middle earth.

Hobbit never matched upto the tale in writting, and if youve seen LOTR you'll see Hobbit I would think; and you know Bilbo lives and Gandalf lives so theres two main characters instantly saved. No danger to them dying at all, no matter how dramatic they make it.

The one thing im relying on, is the game of riddles with Gollum and the encounter with Ungoliants offspring/giant spiders. Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug will be fun, otherwise, making this film into 3 is going to be a chore to watch. Should be just two.

It wouldnt surprise me if the first film ends at Beorns, the 2nd film ends at the retaking of the Mountain leaving the 3rd film to be Arkenstone/Battle of Five armies.

I think you're getting worried for nothing. This is an important story within the history of Middle-earth. Gandalf has a chance meeting with Thorin and gets him to go after Erebor. He does this because he knows Sauron is trying to make a comeback, and that Sauron using a Dragon coming from the north would devistate Middle-earth. You also have Bilbo finding the ring (though nobody knows its "that" ring at that time) which really plays into what we see. Then you have the history of the Dwarves vs Orcs/Goblins will make for a great story. You also have stuff from the White Council that will help us understand where and why characters are at their feelings about things in The Lord of the Rings. This will be something special.

Says the one quoting posts from days ago. :lol :wave

What does that even mean? What point are you making? I don't cling to threads for upto hours every day - i log on, read new posts, and comment where i see fit, then log off and go live my life. It's not my fault people post in the meantime. And the posts i quote, like this one, are ones only a day old when i last logged on.

You're clearly not right in the head so i'll leave you be as discussion is pointless :wave

Forecast (Dec. 14-16)
1. The Hobbit - $94.5 million
2. Lincoln - $6.8 million (-24%)
3. Rise of the Guardians - $6.5 million (-38%)
4. Skyfall - $5.7 million (-47%)
5. Life of Pi - $5.4 million (-35%)

Not gonna take Avengers, but TDKR?

If it doesn't crack the $100 mark it doesn't stand a chance. Like critics or not, word of mouth usually correlates with the consensus and it's looking average right now. Your battle will probably be with The Hunger Games domestically and Skyfall worldwide.

If my theater is any indication this is going to be sold out in several screens here. It will crack $100 million this weekend I think.

^Conversely, I have heard nothing about this film around where I live to the point where I completely forgot it's coming out. Not that it won't make good money, but the big blockbuster films I'm usually hearing about at school and work with facebook being littered with people tagging themselves at the theaters for midnight showings. Nothing on that end here. I don't see it breaking either honestly. And personally I'm more exciting for Django Unchained anyway.

Someone please explain to me the excitement for this movie because I honestly don't get it.

it doesn't look that amazing for me either, I mean looks kinda cool and interesting but I don't see the hype.... Besides being a Tarantino movie.
