Yeah I wouldn't mind paying more for a 350 ES because that will set the wheels in motion for more characters being made when it sells out. If it's a large or open ES they may not pump out characters as fast.

If CM can do a ES of 1000 for movie version, I think SSC can do even better? Or have I overrated SSC?

I believe comic version, they might be greedy to set it at 500. Maybe like the prime, 150 for EX and 500 for Reg. I think they might still collecting customer feedbacks on this.

No still sounds super tacky to me. Only way it would get tackier is if you asked for a voice chip so that he would growl at you as you walked by. Have you ever looked at the statue of liberty and thought that it would be even better if her arms moved up and down? But hey one man's cool is another's cheese.

p.s. The claws wouldn't even fit in his forearms even if you wanted to implement it. Unless you give him super short claws.

The Statue Of Liberty is a special artwork unto itself, that as far as I know, only exists as the statue it is. Making movable arms would not be practical or possibly allow anyone to walk to the torch. ( Wolverine as a character does have retractable claws. Hot Toys Iron Man has movable flaps, so I don't see how it is that different. Some PFs have capes that can be moved and even have wire inside so you can "pose the cape", which really isn't very statue like.
Furthermore, the inclusion of fabric or leather on a statue isn't very statue like either. Real statues aren't made of polystone , metal, and fabric, either. When was the last time you saw such a mixed media statue in the Smithsonian or the Chicago Art Institute? I haven't seen it. If you are going to put metal claws on a polystone or fiberglass or some other material, on a character that HAS retractable claws as part of his character, you might as well take it to the next level and make the claws retractable.
The retractable claws are ENTIRELY consistent with Wolverine, and therefore are not tacky, UNLESS you somehow believe that a character having retractable claws is tacky. (That Wolverine character, the one with metal claws that come out of his hands and go back in again at will? That is sooo ridiculous and absurd, I mean, really... ) That is the thought that comes to mind when I consider the notion that a Wolverine statue having retractable claws is tacky. Maybe having retractable claws on a superhero IS tacky. It is a little weird, after all... I've always thought retractable claws were really cool, so much so that I designed my own in high school.)
Having retractable claws would merely offer an alternative display, no different than having interchangeable heads or arms with different poses. Is having interchangeable heads tacky on a statue? A little gimmicky, perhaps? That argument could be made. Retractable claws are far less tacky than interchangeable body parts. When the retractable claws would be extended, they would look the same as without the retractable feature, and retracted they would offer a different look that Wolverine actually has, achieved basically the way he does it. I don't see any lack of class here, only a more elaborate artwork. There are sculptures that move, you know, that are very high class. I don't see the difference.

As far as the claws being shorter if they are retractable, you do realize what you said, right?? Wolverine's claws are solid pieces of adamantium( Unless they telescope in addition to extending)and so they cannot be longer than his forearms even on the "real" Wolverine, pardon the phrase. To have claws longer than can fit in the arms simply does not make sense, unless we are talking about some sort of Warner Bros. cartoon like when someone pulls a 6 foot long floor lamp out of a 14 inch top hat.
Maybe Wolverine's claws come out of the same flat space technology like they had in the movie "Ultraviolet" with Milla Jovovich, in which you could pull a samurai sword out of a credit card pasted to your chest. I have The Marvel Universe books with diagrams of Wolverine's adamantium skeleton and claws, and I can tell you that THAT technology is not a part of the design. The claws are longer than his forearms? Where do the claws come from?? Where? Perhaps you can explain this apparent and egregious discrepancy.

As far as the voice chip, a voice feature would be nice in the base of a statue of someone who has a real voice, like a statue of Stan Lee that would say Excelsior! or "Hello, True Believers, "This is Stan Lee, and you are looking at the Wolverine Legendary Scale Statue, by Sideshow Collectibles" The he could say that he was conceived by John Byrne, and perhaps describe his powers, and how he first appeared in The Hulk#_, and that he joined the X-Men at such and such a time, all when you pressed a button. He could say, "and he has retractable claws that work like this.." (and the claws would contract and extend, with a SNIKT! sound to accompany it, as the claw mechanism could be synchronized with the sound. )They have voice exhibits at museums. I think that could be very classy. Lets face it, ANY voice coming from anything that is motion activated is a bit cheesy.

SS put out more stuff at a faster rate than CM, five of their eleven total releases are still in stock. I'm not sure they will actually be and exclusive for these pieces, maybe just one version.

Wow, this thread has turned into an essay writing contest, I really didn't care enough to read that whole thing..... he doesn't have retractible claws, not going to happen, and most people think that's cheesy, pointless discussion.

I'm not even going to read all of this :lol:lol

Automatic retractable claws are super tachy on a statue.
Make a poll or something I'm positive the majority will agree with me.

And it will be impossible to implement unless you have the claws fold on itself. You do realize that his wrists would have to be completely straight for the whole blade to fit right? And you want to implement motorized parts into his arm so that it can retract and extract? What the hell are you smoking? It would be easier to just make interchangeable hands.

So yes retractable claws are super cheesy and super impractical.

Repeat after me......cheesy!

I just skipped over the long winded posts. :lol

Retractable claws aren't as tacky as the way out of scale seams on the fabric of the PF outfit. Interchangeable heads are tackier, too.
Yes, the wrists would have to be completely straight for the claws to work. I always figured that his wrists had to be perfectly straight to have his claws out anyway.
The claws need to be short enough to fit in his forearms whether the claws retract into the statue or whether they retract into Wolverines arms in your imagination. Either way, the length needs to be the same, otherwise, it's bogus.
I was thinking of compressed air or hydraulic cylinders to operate the claws.

Retractable claws are no cheesier on a Wolverine statue than they are on Wolverine himself.

LOL :lol Blackthornone reminds us all of his fantasy land yet again. sad :lol

Yes, I've been reading too many comic books...Wait a minute! Isn't this a comic book character collectible? Perish the though of a fantasy land when referring to Superheroes...
