I forget how old he is sometimes, Hoult is okay as Hank, but his Beast is pretty bland compared to Grammer’s. I hope they find a suitable replacement for him after this movie.

I remember reading she wanted out of the franchise, she’s contractually obligated to do Apocalypse but I can’t see her returning after that, at least I hope she doesn’t :lol

With Fox bringing in Tatum and giving him his own solo movie, I can see him being the next star to carry the franchise along with Mcavoy and Fassbender.

Grammer was the perfect Hank/Beast, imo. Even his voice was perfect for that character. One of my favorite characters is Juggernaut, and I hope they use him again with a new actor wearing a helmet that hides his face, the way it should be. I don't mind Lawrence, but if they kill her in the next film, I would be fine with that :lol

I think Tatum as Gambit is a horrible casting decision. It's not that he's a bad actor, he's just not right for that character. He would be great as Ice Man...if that role wasn't already taken.

I wish they'd build up their new cast before going into something like Apocalypse if they're bringing more people in. Is this Age of Apocalypse or are they just bringing in Apocalypse as the villain? I haven't been following the movie.

Do you guys want them to try to adapt the Phoenix saga? Although it might not be the best X-Men story, I think it's extremely important to have in every incarnation. The X-Men franchise seems to be the only franchise that's tough for me to watch every time they deviate from the source material. I think it's because of every other hero having so many different creative teams, while the X-Men had a pretty clear focus under Claremont. He also used a lot of decompressed story-telling and being that his run was so massive, it's hard to adapt an individual story. As much as X-Men fans love the Phoenix saga, it doesn't really hold up well on it's own, unless you start from the beginning. There were so many issues dedicated to developing the characters prior to many of the big stories, and a lot of the plots and villains stunk, but they had to in order to keep the focus on developing so many heroes.

They kinda threw in the Phoenix Saga as a subplot to the Cure story. There going to have to revisit it sooner or later once Jean makes a return to the series.

I think so. I haven't watched it since it was in the theaters. The Days of Future Past thread was what got me to watch the new movie, since I wasn't interested in this movie franchise. I was hoping we could restart and do it right, but I guess it's impossible with how they set up this new universe. All I ask is, if you don't want to use Cyclops, then don't use him. I don't want to see him thrown under the bus again. I saw so many people saying that they're favorite part of the new movie was seeing Cyclops, which I didn't understand. He wasn't even a character in the movies. He was just "the boyfriend," and someone to make Wolverine cooler. The reason why his performance appears so funky to people at the end of X2 is because his cries for Jean had no emotional weight. It felt like it came out of nowhere.

I think they are prepping for a younger cast, Mid 20's to take, to take over. Young recast cyclops, young Jean, young storm, channing Tatum gambit... Jubilee maybe? Haha

Copy and past the 90's animated series.

Indeed, inevitable really, but we don't have to like it :lol

:exactly: Outside of Jackman, I'd be really surprised to see the older cast in the X-films again.

LOL, missed "July 18, 2014" mark in the lower left corner. Guess that's another sanctions against Russia - be represented only as USSR during WW2 in anything related to entertainment for masses :lol

Simon Kinberg Talks X-MEN: APOCALYPSE; Teases 80s Setting And Beast/Mystique Relationship

In an interview with Collider, Simon Kinberg dropped a few more details about what we should expect from the highly anticipated follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past. "I will say that [X-Men: Apocalypse] is definitely the close of a trilogy for those First Class characters, which isn’t to say we won’t see them in future movies, hopefully we will, but it’s a completion of an arc for them," he revealed, before going on to discuss how the next movie in the franchise will once again explore the relationship between Beast and Mystique as X-Men: First Class did. "I think that the friendship between Erik and Charles, which has always been so integral to the franchise, is something we’re continuing to explore and hopefully deepen with Apocalypse. And the relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that."

Talk then turned to the movie's 1980s setting, to which Kinberg replied: "We’re having a lot of fun with the idea of the 80s. It’s a decade that Bryan and I both grew up in and so the music, the style, the aesthetic, the legacy of 80s movies is something we’re really having fun with." As for whether or not the box office success of X-Men: Days of Future Past (it's currently the highest grossing comic book movie of 2014 worldwide) means that they have more to spend on X-Men: Apocalypse, he added, "There are some very big set pieces. I don’t know what the budget’s gonna be because we’re still a ways away from budgeting the film, but I can say that Fox has a lot of creative confidence in the team that made Days of Future Past—myself, Bryan, Lauren Shuler Donner, Hutch Parker. All of those people are coming back so in terms of a sandbox they’re definitely giving us a lot of room to play creatively and take chances the way that we took some chances on Days of Future Past, and do some radical things just as I think we did some radical things in Days of Future Past." So we'll get another kind of reboot after Apocalypse? Too bad if they recast Prof. X and Magneto.

My guess is after this they’re finished with the period pieces and going back to a contemporary setting. I know Fassbender loves playing Magneto and I think he would be down to return, but not sure on Mcavoy. I hope they both return though.
