I've noticed that one of reasons my paint looks a little off is that some of the surfaces look like they have thin coat of dust on them but it can't be wiped off and appears to be part of the paint. It almost looks like that while the paint was drying, some dust got trapped within. Is it possible to buff or clean the paint??

same with mine.

I have special cloth to clean my collectibles and damped the cloth in a bit of watter and cleaned it real good and it looked nice and shinny.

Because it doesnt look like they used any clear coat on this bust, you can maybe use a very small amount of compound to rub out some of the rough spots....should bring it to a shine pretty well. Just be carful you dont press down to hard or use to much as you can polish right through the paint by accident. Thennnnnn you can call it battle damaged.....:D

Well I got my e-mail response from my replacement request and just e-mailed pictures of the issues with mine today. It should be interesting to see how long I will have to wait for a replacement because of the split shipments. I also requested to keep this one until they have a replacement available to ship to me.

Yeah I think it's better then the Chrome version too. It says on the box that it's made of Polystone if I remember correctly, but I'm pretty sure it's actual chrome metal covering the Polystone, even if it's a thin layer, and it's cold to the touch so it has to be. And those 2 hoses I guess you can call them running up the side of it's face are actually real, they aren't cheaply made or anything. I can't remember where or what they are used for, but I know I've seen similar ones in a hardware shop or something.

It has some serious weight to it, I would say it's at least 10-15 pounds, probably even heavier than that. I'm not a good judge of weight, but it really is heavy. This thing definitely screams high quality all around. And the light up function is awesome! When you power them down they actually fade off just like in the movies.

Well thats pretty reassuring to see something that looks good CONSISTENTLY. I've seen alot of reviews on it and videos, looks good in almost all of them. I had a feeling it would be heavy, but I thought it would be heavier than the IM bust (which weighs 30+Lbs). Ether way though, Im looking forward to getting that as well. I wonder what the hold up is....I ordered it the same time as the IM bust back in November.
If its made like the original chrome version and has just been weatherd using paint....then it shouldnt be to hard to remove it with abrasive chemicals. I wouldnt try or recomend polishing it down with steelwool or anything like that. As you will take of the paint, go right through to the chrome and ruin the finish almost definitely.

I got mine today from DSC ...

Overall-
the bust looks great and there are minimal paint issues (very few..I will not be seeking a replacement). The color looks perfect to me and the neck area is not bad at all...like many have mentioned- some didn't turn out so good but the majority are fine, I think! The scale is 1:1 no doubt.

Here are some pics and comparison shots...

I was frightened when I first saw the box...raptor attack ?

To me that red looks almost purple. I can see what others are talking about when they complain about paint inconsistencies. Some spots do look better than others.

I was really hyped for this bust but I am going to wait it out some more.

The only perfect Iron Man is the real one in the movie. Otherwise, there will always be some flaw in everyone's statue.

Darn it...still waiting for the UPS driver to ring the door bell.

Indeed...all of them will have some sort of issue(s)...

A perfect one will re-require a pristine paint job by a professional.

Venom, IM, Predator, John Paul II? :naughty

LOL

Nice bust!! Thanks for sharing!

Just received mine and its gorgeous! No flaws, the paint apps are perfect, not a spot that is faded or looks dusty, my fingers were crossed. The eye LEDs are amazingly bright. I love it, my favorite thing I own! Pics to come.

flaws can be spotted by others :) too red, too shiny...too bright...etc :) congrat!

However, wanna trade? Mine is still with the UPS guy...i think he went home with it since it's 5:15PM already.

I will be posting a video of the making of the IRON MAN armor that will show you how accurate it is to the live action suit used in the movie.

Video is uploading to youtube.

All right, so the paint in an interesting thing. Its definitely a darker red than the comiquette which is more of a Candy Apple red but in darker light settings it looks more burgundy. I can't wait to get my 1:1 Arc Reactor Mark 01 Chest piece to display it with.

damn man, that looks pretty sweet. almost makes me want to get one.
looks as good as the one at the lcs imo.
really shows how big that sucker is with the lsb beside it.
congrats

I can't believe the UPS guy just left it outside the door without ringing the doorbell :horror

Well...all the waiting has come to an end :)

My impression is that there are some flaws: The armor piece around his neck is on the rough side. Other than that, it's a very nice bust overall.

QUESTION: Do you guys think it's a good idea to put him on the highest level in the Besta shelf? I'm just afraid it might tumble down on my grail :)

Here are some of mine quick shot:
