Play Imaginative pulled it off with 80% Die-Cast. It's heavy but not too heavy. I doubt a Hot Toys version would be 80%.

Not sure I would use a company like PI as an example for good...on anything. Not a very good track record. Lol

The statement has nothing to do with their reputation and has everything to do with the question of whether die-cast would make the figure too heavy and impractical. PI's Iron Patriot and War Machine releases are great products comprised of 80% die-cast and as such are completely applicable to the conversation.

Weathering
Paint job is solid. I could not appreciate how well weathering could be done until I bought 3a's Bumblebee figure. Having been exposed to that level of detailing I can say that the weathering here could be better. Looks flat and mass produced (which I know.. It is) to be honest. But on display its a non issue because you are not viewing it from 1 inch away!

Don't let this deter you tyt2lynnin1. It still looks nice. Some of your criticism does hold true though.

Lots of batteries. Not sure why Hot Toys did not include the little screw driver like in some of their other releases.

Great products? Maybe some. But there's plenty of issues. 1/3 of the company's 1/4 scale line that went up for sale has yet to actually be released, nearly two years after accepting full payment for it. The other 2 figures where (war machine and IP) where so bad QC wise half the retailers refused to sell them. Then others where forced to give an average of 1 completly figure for every sold one(a failed rate of 1/1). Which is why they completly pulled the 42. It is why marvel told them they where either going to have to take drastic measures or lose their 1/4 license the same way marvel pulled the 1/6 licenses. That is why CMC was formed. Becuase of the failure of their great 1/4 scale line.

It's fantastic you got one of the 500 or so decent figures. Doesn't mean that a company that did such a poor job it had to reform as another company or lose its license, becuase it had already gotten one licenses revoked and lost its credibility, should be used as an example of "how to" do anything. And that is what I said. And it's true. They messed up so bad they lost their license. Not an example any company should follow. Ever. A couple good figures out of thousands is a fail.

That's great and all.. But why is it your job to drill them anytime their name is brought up? It's like you have a filter alarm set for anything die-cast and Play Imaginative lol.. And my statement stands. The question was whether die-cast would work at this scale. And based on a product I own.. Yes it will.

Sweet pics, man ... I was gung-ho about getting this but then my enthusiasm cooled a bit, still on the fence though. Definitely looks awesome each time pics pop up.

Thanks man. I'm taking my time and giving it a good look over but I am very impressed so far. The proportions are perfect and the head sculpt is amazing.

Royce thanks for the pic comparing him to PI 1/4 Iron Patriot. I guess once again we have another scale difference. I was hoping they would be a closer match to each others 1/4 scale.

Moving forward I wonder if Hot Toys will use this 1/4 scale measurement on the mark 43 for any future Iron man armors.

This guy is huge.. Especially for Hot Toys as their 1/4 stuff is usually shorter than the competition. I would imagine that all of their future 1/4 Iron Men will be this height.

Hot Toys is labeling this line as 1/4 scale. They even have the item numbers QSxxxx . My problem is each year they come up with a new "1/4 scale" size. It's like they keep changing their own 1/4 scale dimensions as they go. So in reality it's not really a "scale" per say. Maybe more of a Marketing Class of figures.
