Re: 1/4 Hot Toys - QS005 - Avengers: AoU - 1/4 Iron Man Mark 43 Figure

I've been thinking of selling most of my 1/6 figures lately to focus on prop replicas, PFS, and 1/4 figures. I guess that's why I wasn't much excited about all the noise Toy Soul is making til I saw this proto. So far I have 4 high-end quarter scales (EB and HT Bale Batmen, EB BD T800 and HT T800 Endo), they're too amazing... comparisons of any kind won't be fair for their 1/6 counterparts, IMO.

EDIT: I just realized that I have already sold my DX13, DX12, and 1/6 Endo, and I'm not missing them one bit I have not remembered selling them til now :lol

prop replicas eh? I love collecting props, mostly I just stick to swords from LOTR and stuff, but I love the Marvel stuff too like Mjolnir of Caps Shield, I'd love to get Rockets Gun(King Arts)

I considered doing that as well since the 1/6 line has so many damn figures. Not a bad idea to just limit your collection to the essentials.

I hope this isn't diecast. It would be way too heavy and expensive.
It's not.

At 1/4 my collection would be much much smaller but higher in quality.

A well managed and well displayed 1:6 collection is just as impressive as a 1:4 collection. The key is not having too much of everything, as the more there is of something, the less unique and special it seems. eg. I had near two dozen PF's but brought it down to 6, and the 6 feel all the more special. I had DC and Marvel 1:6, but sold off every single one of my DC figs and it feels so much better.

I used the funds from selling off the PF's and DC collection to finally invest in the Star Wars 1:1 collection I've always wanted.

Key is focusing on what you really want and having the time, energy, and most importantly room to properly display everything.

Well, we were supposed to get 1/4 figures from the first Avengers movie. Remember this?

Nice to see they finally got around this scale.

yep, I hope they actually make the rest of the squad besides Hulk in this scale. Lets face it, Sideshow can't compete with this IM in any way, so if HT decides to do more IM in this scale, watch out. Glad I didn't PO the 1/6 die cast, this is the best looking 1/4 IM to date from any company.

It amazes me how many 1/6 collectors come in to 1/4 threads and say they can't afford them, yet, they have 5-10 1/6 figures on PO :cuckoo:. Btw, 1/4 statues take up much more room than 1/4 figures. These won't take up that much more room cause of poseability options.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys - QS005 - Avengers: AoU - 1/4 Iron Man Mark 43 Figure

Really, I have lots of 1/6 figures but no 1/4 ones...... I must buy at least 1 in 2015, I am also just now getting into 1/4 statues

I'd be worried 1/4 figures would be a slippery slope, but the output of them is a hell of a lot less heavy than 1/6.

My reason is not about focus, management, and display. I've started streamlining late last year; by February of this year I have already sold all my Preds and Teminator figures, leaving only Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. 2 months ago I decided to just let go of all my SW 1/6 figures. My display is more spacious now more than ever, and what's left are figures of my childhood super-heroes. The thing is 1/6 figures are starting to excite me less, even in the most amazing displays I see from other collectors. I am not saying that one is better than the other, but I'll say I get most satisfaction now looking at bigger figures, articulated or not.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys - New Incoming Quarter Scale Figure - Iron Man Related?

Man, this thing is just ridiculously amazing.
Made a rule to myself to just stick to 1/6 and no more 1/4, but
this thing is just making it hard to keep that promise.

pending price this will be my first 1/4...... and I agree that it looks amazing :hi5:

well that does make it more appealing, but you also sometimes don't get the figures you want

But enough of the ones you get are for the most part very representative of the license.

The 1/4 Batmans (EB's and HT's) for example. To me at least, it easily replaces the whole entire Nolan 1/6 collection. So yeah, it was $460 compared to $250-300, but it saved me from buying all those characters and vehicles and armories totaling thousands of dollars.

Iron man? Imagine how many people would be content with owning MK3 and MK7 instead of 42 1/6 figures plus repairs and what have you.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys - QS005 - Avengers: AoU - 1/4 Iron Man Mark 43 Figure

No doubt about it... looks nice, and better than 1:6.... but if I was going to go 1:6 I'd probably just stick with Sideshow's PFF lineup...

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys - QS005 - Avengers: AoU - 1/4 Iron Man Mark 43 Figure

Some of us prefer diecast though. ;)

Yeah but you are not getting a diecast figure from Hot Toys. You are getting a plastic figure with some diecast bits. I don't see how you can call a mostly plastic figure diecast.

Collect what makes you happy; that's what is most important, right? :duff

And don't get me wrong, I wasn't disagreeing with you specifically and understand fully what you mean about the presence larger collectibles have. There's a reason why I have a strict rule about not mixing scale while on display. Because each type of collectible has a different sort of visual impact that clashes when they're together, and at worst can diminish each other. Seeing a really well done premium format statue next to a 12" figure does by nature make the figure seem less impressive just because of the scale. But taken individually, you come to appreciate them better.

Not a universal truth, granted; a mixed display works if there's a strong universal theme, and I've seen incredible collections with all sorts of items in endless scales and sizes work because they're presented well. For me personally, I prefer to keep the 1:6, 1:4, and 1:1 items on separate ends of the room, and in some cases separate rooms altogether.

So I am really tempted by the 1:4 Mk 43 just because I like the armor and it'll likely be a stunning figure. But he'll go nowhere near the 1:6 Mk 43 because that'll make the 43 look like a toy, even though on it's own, the 1:6 Mk 43 is an impressive figure in its own right.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys - QS005 - Avengers: AoU - 1/4 Iron Man Mark 43 Figure

That looks badass but I'm sticking to 1/6. I have no room for anything bigger.
