Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

What do you think it's coated with?

I didn't say it was. I only said that without having one in hand there is zero way to know...

As for the possibilities...there's hundreds of products designed to coat and protect foam. And there's dozens of everyday objects made from this throw away material.

grocery bags

Polyethylene/Plastic bags..would have sufficient quality/strenght if made of certain thickness... Polystyrene on the other hand is 95% air, in HT's case Chinese industrial air.

Good for you! :clap

Uh, I took that photo. I'm not going off a photo on a screen on the interwebs, I'm using my own eyes. I've seen styrofoam before. It comes as packaging for the expensive stuff I buy. It's the stuff I throw away in the garbage after I remove the expensive stuff I paid for--not the stuff I keep around.

Again-another insult directed toward me personally instead of dealing with the product. I do love keyboard warriors. I bet you talk just like that in person....right.

And again another insult about money. Was that a humble brag? Do you want to compare the amount of expensive things we both have and see which one wins? I mean, you brought up how much expensive things you have. Like your some kind of baller, or insinuating that I don't have nice things because I disagree with you. And everyone else seems to think this is high school, except with no potential to get jammed in their locker for sticking their nose in and egging on. I don't get why some *** hats make it personal instead of talking about the items. And that because I disagree some how your better or that gives them the right to disrespect me or attack me. If you want to make it personal and public that's fine. You want to compare anything, let me know. Mines bigger.

you read way to into things... non of what he said was "key board warrior"

And your last comment is pretty weak... I mean no matter what he says or has you have more and its bigger..? your ego maybe

And things that don't, that's my point. But way to repeat, word for word, what someone else said.

Im sure you have heard that foam is used in everything from car bumpers and surfboards to packing and insulation. I'm sure your aware it's durable enough to have whole houses made from it. Like the Xanadu Houses .

And every single one of those break and dent easily... your point?

from the internet:

"By the early 1990s, the Xanadu houses began to lose popularity because the technology they used was quickly becoming obsolete, and as a result the houses in Wisconsin and Tennessee were demolished"

In bumpers: they reduce impact and act as a cushion - and break

in surfboards: they help with floatation and weight - can still break

Packaging: exactly

Insulation: cool bro

and houses: inefficient

I'm not the one that started the personal stuff. And I asked multiple times to not make it personal. And what I got was a half dozen "boom" and ohh he told you...and I'm so rich..and yeah you'll like that with your cockroaches..and i have expensive stuff. But your right, after twenty snotty insults and veiled insults I'm the bad guy for finally replying with a personal response.

And if I read into things to much, how else was I supposed to read into that? You read what I wrote, which was clinical and analotical, I'm talking about the stuff I wrote up until the comment that seemed to be so bad to you... U read that and u tell me how that rated the responses it got.

Yes they break and dent. You explain to me what material you would like to use that when dropped won't break or dent? In fact, take your iron man figure and drop him and tell me what happens? How about the original hall of armor, you go ahead and drop that and let me know if it doesn't break or dent. The argument that your making, that if I drop the foam it will dent, is the worst argument against foam you can make. It was invented for that purpose. Impact resistance.

Oh, and that quote you used to explain why the houses where tore down...read the other stuff around it. The things that became obsolete, and again it doesn't say it failed or was inefficient, was the technogy inside the houses. They where built to show off home automation and electronics. Those electronics became out dated, this the " show rooms" in this case houses made of foam, where no longer needed and where destroyed. Same thing happens with steel and concrete buildings everyday.

The boom (that I posted) was in reference to him telling you he was the one who took the picture of the piece in the first place, cause right before that you were talking about how no one could possibly know until they had in in hand... He knew cause he saw it physically in front of him...

you read it like it is, he's snarky and has a point... he's no starting **** with you, he's not comparing fortunes or possessions, he was making a point that this HOA is nothing more then cheap packaging... the Expensive stuff he buys is the exact same expensive stuff we all buy... how could that possibly be bragging and trying to one up you?

well plastic can be repaired, and painted... foam melts with both glue and paint

I don't see how, he didn't quote you so you are good, don't take things too personal, even if it's indirect, no one will care. Styrofoam does have it's goods and ups and downs, like the christmas lemax villages backdrops and snow, I went to a house where guy had those styrofoam cutters that can shape them in any way or form, the hardest kind you can get is the ones you use for house insulation, I am planning on getting some for my lemax houses that are addicting to get when they are on sale at Michaels, but I am seriously worried about buying HT's variant, I am not trying to bash this product, but heck even stacking them up that high would be nuts just trying to get them aligned, that styrofoam sound is hard enough to bear when taking saint seiya vintage toys out of the boxes, it's worse than nails through a chalkboard.

I honestly don't know how it blew up like that so fast. No one was targeting anyone at first. Some of us, myself included, were just making points that this is a cheap half *** effort on hot toys part, unless this is just a rushed proto that was just put out for the conventions.

My argument is that even tho foam is good in other things, I don't want it in my collectibles, especially ones that are used for environmental displays where their positions would have them damage easier. They should be plastic where they are more durable and their condition would last a lot longer than styrofoam. Plastic afterall takes like what? 100 years or more to break down???

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

I have no problem at all with these, but before I go too deep I d like confirmation from Hot Toys that they are making all 35 of the "house party protocol"armours.I was very disappointed to see they have nt unveiled Shotgun and Hammerhead yet.Ideal marketing would have been as Play Imaginative did last year,I:e all armours on display in their cocoons.Or a "Backstage" photo showing them under development would also suffice.

Re: 1/6 - Hot Toys - IM3 - Hall of Armor (House Party Protocol Ver.) - Spec + Pic

In all honesty due to the simplicity of this set up, do not be surprised to see excellent chinese knock offs of this in the near future with the same LED light up features, just cheaper.

A Chinese knock will cost a lot if shipped from China. Even though these are light they are HUGE so the dimensional weight will be an issue.

That is why I am confident they are in the $60 price range based on the current eBay listings. I would venture to say that shipping from Hong Kong to the USA is about $30. So at $99 they are making a small profit

like packaging that gets thrown away... :dunno

BLASPHEMER

I don't know of many collectors that discard the packaging and some of the Freaks on this forum pay and extra $10 to get their items sent in a bigger box to protect the box and Styrofoam.

The boom (that I posted) was in reference to him telling you he was the one who took the picture of the piece in the first place, cause right before that you were talking about how no one could possibly know until they had in in hand... He knew cause he saw it physically in front of him...

And yet he didn't ask any questions about the price. Plus if I was at that show I would take a ton of pictures and ask a ton of questions and then I would post my own thread to share the information.

HOWEVER, most Hot Toys Collectors would never repair or paint one of their figures.

There is a lot of passive aggressive behavior present on this forum and some people intentionally try to stir up drama because they enjoy it.

I can see some validity to Motuxman's comments. I used to not understand why people get so passionate and hateful toward things they never plan to buy but one day it just clicked.

They are pissed because it is an item they want but what the company released does not meet their expectations, so they are upset and take out their frustration on those that do like it.

Some do it in extremely rude ways.

I don't think this is a cheap half assed attempt on Hot Toys Part. If you read any HOA thread a lot of people complained that it was too expensive.

Then you have the weight issue that makes it more expensive to ship and could cause issues if they were stacked.

I think this is a fantastic solution, it solves both issues.
