Some folks were convinced they made fewer than normal AoU Caps, so who knows.

I was amazed how fast AOU Cap sold out- I'm so glad I got mine. I think when it comes to Thor, if you don't have one already, don't wait, get this one now and don't risk it being gone when you want it. If you have other versions, particularly one of the DW ones, you can afford to wait it out some because in the end all you would lose is essentially a variant.

I received my AOU Thor cape, So I was gonna upgrade my TDW LA Thor with the AOU cape. But after I switched it, the cape is too dark for my liking.
Its actually even darker than my pics suggest.

After watching the bluray again, the TDW LA Cape is actually more screen accurate, so I switched the cape back to TDW LA cape.
So, the only thing I'll probably upgrade on my TDW LA thor is the headsculpt, once the prices on ebay come down.

Yep, this is exactly what I was referring to before. The AoU cape is not accurate to any of Thor's looks
over the different movies. After customizing my Dark World Thor the last piece arrives on Friday,
which is the Light Asgardian Armor cape.

The regular Dark World cape is just too clean to go with the armored-up arms, IMO.

In AOU, it looks to me that when Thor's cape is CGI like at the beginning of the movie it's really dark ... and at the end of the movie when he departs for Asgard the cape looks much lighter, I'm guessing he's actually wearing a cape in this scene.

That's the thing, the AOU cape's color is kinda deceiving in pictures...cause even though you can tell its darker, on pics...it looks vibrant, so that's why I bought it, thinking even though its not screen accurate, it looks kinda cool.
But once you have it in hand...its really really dark.

I wonder if its more obvious to you because you have it side by side with the DW version? I don't have any other Thor, so I am hoping without anything else to compare it to in hand I will like the AOU version as is. I really don't want to feel I have to "upgrade" the cape by tracking down a DW version.

No, its very very obvious, and its not just a matter of seeing both side by side.
The AOU cape is much much darker in hand.

Dont get me wrong though, the AOU cape is beautiful.
That's one of the reasons why I bought it in the first place, cause I thought eventhough its not as screen accurate, it looks kinda cool.
But for me personally, once its in the detolf, its too dark for my liking. And like you said, I do have the benefit of seeing both capes in hand to make a comparison of which one I like better.

I would say, I dont think you probably will be disappointed...but if you do want a more screen accurate cape, I do recommend the LA cape.

Yeah, TDW LA cape has always been my favorite cape of the Thor figures. The hue is spot on, and the dirty effect at the bottom is a great touch for detail.

It's my favorite cape also, and ive always thought it was perfect.
But I thought, hey, get a new cape and sculpt and it's like getting a new aou Thor figure.

I currently have all of the Thor figures, but I'm contemplating downsizing my collection a bit unfortunately, so I'm thinking about which figures I would part with. TDW LA Thor is being considered. I have both TDW versions and the LA version is actually my favorite of the two, but it makes more sense to part with that one being that I have AoU Thor coming, so I'll have a sleeveless Thor in that figure. I really hate to let that figure go though, mainly because of the cape.

If I do end up selling him, perhaps down the line I'll just pick-up a TDW LA cape and stick it on the sleeved TDW Thor.

I've owned Thor 1, avengers, and now of course, the tdw LA Thor, and for me personally, LA Thor is my favorite figure out of all the ones I've seen.
LA and aou are very close, but I prefer not having the blue undershirt, he looks more muscular in my opinion.

I go back and forth between the two sculpts cause I do see more likeness with tdw sculpt, but I also like the more relaxed closed mouth sculpt also.
So I'll just get the sculpt when the prices drop down on eBay.
Aou and tdw LA is so close though, so you can't go wrong with either one.

You could just swap the capes now and sell the LA version with the regular DW version's cape and call it a "custom". If you are up front about the fact it has a different cape you are likely still to be able to find a buyer IMO.

I actually like the blue undershirt. But I also like the AOU version because the bare arms and silver highlights remind most of the classic comic book look. The blue accent of the undershirt also lends itself to the classic comic book coloring and I like how it goes with some small blue details on parts of the breast plate too.

Yea, I'm thinking of picking up an extra sculpt to mod to fit a helmet and I can't decide if I want the DW version or another AOU version. I really do like the AOU version best but the DW version would give me variety.

After having both in-hand next to each other, the silver disks and armor plates look way better than the gold.

I think it is just the wrong metal color for the rest of his uniform. Looks a little out of place, especially with the
silver armor on his arms.

That's true, I have considered that. I'm still not fully sure yet I want to part with him though, so we'll see.

I definitely prefer the AoU sculpt (for the facial expression and hair) and the silver discs, in lieu of TDW sculpt and the gold discs. I agree with Remy's assessment that TDW body is a bit more muscular, but I don't think it is so much more so than the AoU one to make that big of a difference to me.
