I always have a tough time with hair, Ive been trying to update Gamora's hair for a while but no dice so if you can share a few tips with dye it would be welcomed

Gamora's hair? As you took off the rooted hair? Im a little lost as to what you're aaking.

As far as dying Thors hair. I'm thinking of buying actual hair dye and just brushing it in your the hair. I just hope I don't apply any to the head sculpt.

That hair looks great!

Although for me personally, I actually prefer sculpted hair, especially on male figures. Although long, Thor's hair seems like it always has a wet, grungy look to it. I feel sculpted hair is better able to capture that.

Thanks SilverStar17. I plan to make it a little less neat. Once the hair dye and gel is applied it'll look more "wet and grungy".

Midtown comics website has this for $186.99. I've only ordered comics through them, but they package comics well.

I think Midtown has had some ridiculously good deals in the past so I wouldn't completely rule them out. Thor will also very likely get a nice discount later this year at other places, such as Sideshow and Popcultcha.

Thor had a fantastic discount from Popcultcha last December during their 'different deal each day' promotion. It had only just come out too..

Weren't Midtown the ones that had both TDW Thor and Loki at a ridiculously low price roughly a couple of months ago? I want to say like around $140? Perhaps not quite that low, but I know they were both at a pretty low price.

I purchased from Midtown before, well packaged and with sealed brown shippers. It's just the shipping charges are ridiculous so I've never purchased from them again but there was no problems.

What is the best way to remove the wings from the sides of the helmet. And at what angle do you re-glue the wings for the mod?
Thanks.

Here's some side by side images of the helmet mod next to the stock HS.

Just picked up a TDW head to go with my AoU Thor for $40 :yess: Looking forward to using the TDW head for action poses and comparing it with the AoU head.

I'm about to order a helmet, was hoping to find one cheaper in the states but no luck. $60 bucks from HK or nothing.

Can't wait til it gets here, a little nervous about carving up the sculpt though.

Hey Jake,

The wings are relatively delicate, I just snapped mine off with my fingers. If your not comfortable doing that, I'm sure you could carefully cut hem off with a Dremel.

As for the positioning of the wings on the helmet, I just toyed with it till I found something that looked awesome to me. I tried to line up the angles of the bottoms of the wing blades, with the natural contour of Thor's jaw line and cheekbones. I was also mindful to not obstruct the periphery of his field of vision.

It's also worth mentioning that I drew a lot of inspiration from Classical Greek warrior helmet design.

I wanted it to look badass and realistic in equal measure! [emoji1]

Would you consider doing commissions? I'll send you my sculpt and helmet when I get it, and you work your magic. Only half joking here, lol.

Your sculpt looks fantastic, I've never done this before and don't really want to risk ruining it.

Haha! Thanks man!

Believe me I'd love the extra cash to pump into my other custom projects, but I barely have time to work on my own stuff.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have though, so don't hesitate to ask [emoji1]

Thanks for the advice. I wonder if dropping the helmet in hot water might make it a little easier to remove, or maybe put a debonder on the glued areas. *edit* Nevermind, I just wiggled the wings around a little bit and they both just popped right off the helmet and nothing broke!
I am waiting for an extra head to arrive from overseas before I start the helmet mod. I'm going to mod the AOU head for the helmeted version.
