Yeah at that price point.. forget it.

I'll wait and see what the IW Thanos will be when that film nears.

The reason I bring up the no cloths thing is because if you look at a figure like Groot that's also 15" with a lot of paint work just like Thanos and see Groot priced at $199.99 it boggles my mind why Thanos is so expensive. I mean the throne is just hunks of plastic with cheap LEDs in it. I thought he would be no more than $350.

groot is no wear near as complicated as thanos.... Groot is is a lot thinner as well. IT was pretty obvious he would be priced near hulk plus some change because of the armor. The throne adds an extra 50-80$ and im sure many would buy it if sold separately, i mean people pay more for loki's staff LOL/

Hulk was $300 when released. The throne is $50 lets say.... so where is the rest of the difference. Thanos is shorter. The armor does not add anything. I mean look at Cap or Thor. Good, detailed attire and they are priced relatively good.

Why do you guys keep asking for an Infinity Gauntlet...it hasn't been properly introduced in the MCU, yet...

With that said...pass for me until IW...

Hulk was released a few years ago and is a simple figure. a few years a go figures were around 200$, now most figures that arent suit and tie are around 230-240. 240$ for cap and thor is not a good price when they use to go for 200-210. It seems you are fine with those price increases but not the ones for larger characters. As you can see prices have gone up. He is only an inch and a half taller. IT takes a LOT more time to sculpt armor and details. Thats why zod was 240 and superman was 200.... That price difference was obviously the armor. The throne is definitely more then 50$ didnt notice it has LED built in. The price is pretty fair in my opinion, it might not be worth it to some. Idk why anyone would think this wouldnt break 400$.

The Hong Kong market doesn't have to pay the customs/import/duty charges, nor the shipping into country. If you buy a figure this size from the USA to Hong Kong you can add 50 bucks easy.

I still can't get the sticker shock here. It's an oversized, figure. Bigger then hulk. With twice the paint apps and an actual costume. On top of a diorama set up. There are company that only make 1/6 scale display bases. A few less complex then this chair. And they are over 100 usd. The added base on an iron man repaint added 30-40 bucks to the cost. So this probably added about the same. Which means in comparison to the hulk which is the closest marvel sized figure, they added a lot of detail, a costume, paint and a bit of size, and a diorama display base. All of which was done for less then what a base alone costs. I say multiple people saying they thought, pre announcement, that this would be 450-500. It came in less then the high end estimates.

As for the cute motu jokes...what else was it supposed to look like other then exactly what the movie had him designed like? I find it funny that now that people are able to order it suddenly it's a terrible figure. But it's the exact same proto shown at toy soul, and I didn't hear a single person talking about how bad this guy was, or how he was to cartoony or whatever else. Reminds me of all the DOFP talk. Up till the first figure was announced everyone was saying I want one. Anyone. I'd buy anything. Hot toys is dumb for not making this or that. As soon as they announce something...well it's not the right thing. Or it just doesn't look good enough. It wasn't the right character. But if they did Charles or mags or sponge bob is buy that. For sure. Right up till the actually make it and announce it, and suddenly poof. Those people saying it was a must have or how hot toys is not making the right stuff or whatever...they all fold up their wallets and bring things up that no one was saying before. This is why when hot toys finds a figure that sells always they stick to it (iron man). And why it's not worth the effort or money to do a lot of other characters. Despite all the fan boy clamour, it often doesn't result in real world sales.

I'm surprised people are even expecting the Gauntlet. We haven't even seen it on screen yet. Which is part of the reason why this is a tough decision for me. Sure, this is a bad ass looking piece, but we haven't seen seen him do much on screen except just sit on his throne, and that's all this figure is really a reflection of. He didn't even so much as fist pump, or even stand for that matter, like shown in these protos.

Obviously we'll eventually see him in action and I'm sure the next figure of him will be a reflection of that (The Gauntlet, more hands, possibly another accessory(s).... This is a cool ass statuesque fig of him, but I have a feeling the next version will be more figuresque.

The next thing to consider is to wait or not to wait the 2+ years for the next one...

As far as the price, I'd say that this would have been a lot more attractive at $399.99, at least to trick the eye if nothing else. I can see it being $100 more than Hulk and $70 less than Monger (even though those are "old prices" :lol:lol) with the throne and the amount of work that goes into his armor.

Well, I preordered this monster. Luckily I have a significant break between payments as between this an Cap, my money is going to be bled from my account starting in June.
EDIT:I cancelled this thing for the meantime.

That was fast :lol

Infinity Wars version will probably be $580 by the time that one rolls out.

If HT doesn't price themselves out of existence by then

So if this comes out Jan 2016 (perhaps later as everything seems to delayed with so much product coming out), he'll only be in hand for a year and a half or so before we see previews of the Infinity Gauntlet version. And of course another year before that one eventually ships.

Avengers CA, for example, went up order 4/12 and the AoU version just went up for order 1/15, almost 3 years. Of course, we knew the costume would be different. I don't imagine they'll update Thanos's armor for IW, but perhaps.

My thoughts exactly. It is a pretty good amount of time to enjoy a piece before the next version comes around

Decisions, decisions...

The new Cap is $225. Thor is $230. So a $30 price increase for better head sculpts and more detailed attire is no big deal. Now a $115 price increase, I dont know, it is the price of a Premium Format Figure. I mean I can understand the price somewhat. The throne, the paint, certain armor pieces, But it just seems like SSC/HT tried to bite off more than they could chew in regards to the price.

Pretty crazy when you think how close the price is to something like the 1/4 scale HT Batman. That figure has a much more complex design and came with a lot more accessories than Thanos. Hot Toys prices are getting ridiculous but at the same time with nothing selling out anymore, it is a lot easier to get great deals on their figures these days. Anyone interested in this figure really should wait to find a better deal.

Maybe when this is shown in conjunction with a regular figure like Iron Man or Cap and you can actually see the scale/size difference the price will be easier to swallow.

I imagine floating in his chair some 20 inches high will be pretty impressive above the "little figures".
