You're playing the wrong game if you're spending more money to get more points
Definitely. But some still do anyway. Its points inception. You're playing the wrong game if you're spending more money to get more points [emoji38]lol[emoji38]
Have to disagree. Majority of stuff I've bought direct from SSC I would've anyway, b/c of exclusives or just preferring flex. In regards to cards, depends on the program. Mine costs $150/year, but I save more than that just on having our travel insurance covered on trips. The 2% I get back on all purchases for travel is just an extra that I don't pay a cent for, since I don't carry a balance. So you definitely can get something for nothing with CCs.
B-b-but dem exclusives.
I take your meaning, though... I guess I figure in for a penny, in for a pound. Whole hobby is a waste of money in my opinion, so I don't lose sleep over marginal savings.
Hm, kind of regret bringing it up, but it's mathematically impossible for me to spend more on the fee/interest (so far I have not had .01 cent in interest) than I'm getting back in free travel insurance, access to airport lounges, etc. It would be more fair to say that people that carry a balance are subsidizing me and the CC company wins overall but loses on me as a customer. Anyway, let's get back to HB.I hate to break this to you, but they are gaining in the long run. It's like a casino, the house always wins. You might save a little bit here and there, but in the end, you're losing.
Europe is super expensive IRT this hobby and puts any North American complaints on price into perspective. Agreed it's all worth it in the end, though.Yeah, I remember telling my girlfriends back in the days, that collecting comics was like an investment Now I just accept that I loose a lot of money, but at least I'm happy while I'm loosing them. Collecting Hot Toys in Europe is NOT a good business. But I love the figures I collect, and that is the main thing. Right... Right...?

How much money have you spend, when you have $450 in points?
Haha there starts another debate on exclusives. I agree on the waste of money but what can we do. We are humans. We will always want more.B-b-but dem exclusives. [emoji14]

My local comic shop will give me a MUCH better deal that SSC direct on these, so I don't worry about points. I get some points when I buy the occasional exclusive, but I usually spend points right away.
Honestly the points are silly, I wish they'd lower the cost by 4% or something instead. Clearly it works for them as some people like them. People like the mental gymnastics to justify a "free" figure. It's not free, you paid for it. When you buy direct, you are basically overpaying for the item and the extra money you paid you are loaning to SSC until you use your points.

Sounds like you got a good deal
but I like my psychological benefits(other than potential psychological benefits).

I do pretty well, but I also buy almost every Marvel Hot Toys figure, so the comic shop does well too. It's a win-win. I don't know why more people don't negotiate a deal like this with their local comic shop owner. The owner of my shop and I are actually friends now. He makes money based on how much I order (at a lower margin) and I save a lot over buying direct.

Again..people need to stop acting like their life and experience is somehow the same that everyone has. It's fantastic to have a local comic shop where it's cheaper. I don't. And neither do a large portion of the people that collect these. And some people can't make it to the comic shop to order these if they are popular and sell out. You also don't factor in time, (my time is worth money) or gas.
I have to buy online. And when shipping is factored in sideshow is usually within 5-10 bucks (if more then anyone else). With the points/rewards it's cheaper. So if I'm spending the same on the figure why exactly would I go with another store that doesn't offer flex and doesn't give points. It's not psychological benefit, it is in fact actual benefit. It's not a loan. And it does equate to a free figure essentially. Just becuase you don't understand it or other people's perspective doesn't make it not true.
