So I've got several of my HT SW collection set up in the family room right now (where they are generally forbidden), and my wife just walked in and said, "wow, that Luke is AMAZING". So that's a win. End of story. No more debate required :lol.

That's a win!! :)

BTW, if anyone cares, HT eyes aren't painted, they're printed - decals applied to the PVC sculpt. Not even JC Hong can paint by hand the eyes of the production figures. They're also painted mostly by machine, and that production process is one of the things they have above most other companies in the industry. It would be neat to see a non-BS behind the scenes ala "how it's made."

Ok, I just found some pictures from TFA and it looks like I am wrong. TFA Saber seems to be a mix between ANH and ESB. It has the eye on the bottom instead of the duplicate nob that's on top like in ANH and the rest looks like Empire with the rivets in the grip and D ring on the end. Hard to tell from the picture but it also looks like it has the circuitry strip in the switch like ESB rather than the bubble strip of ANH

no bubbles for sure. empire d ring... rivers and 6 grips, not 7. not sure about the glasse eye on the bottom, thought I saw the button. pretty close to empire, I'd say. makes sense since the last time we saw it was in empire. and that's cool... but for the Tatooine Luke... I wish it was accurate. sigh. first world nerd problems.

As long as they look good I guess I don't really see why it matters what processes they use. They deliver quality on a fairly consistent basis which is something that can't be said for other manufacturers.

I would love to see something like that and learn more of how these things get made.

I'm scratching my head to understand all the criticism of this figure. I look at it and see a childhood dream come true. The finished version probably could look a bit more like the box art, but to me it's not so much off that it spoils my enjoyment of owning this Luke.

I can only think of a handful of people really blasting it and want nothing to do with it. I think most of the "criticism" on the thread though isn't coming from people who hate the figure or don't appreciate it, but rather from collectors giving their honest assessment and opinion about its craftsmanship compared to what they have experienced from companies like Hot Toys in the past. Plenty of people can appreciate and like a figure while also critiquing it and recognizing its flaws.

Nicely put. Sometimes we need to actively try not to let our recreational nit picking distract us from the joy of collecting which is why we're all here in the first place...

Well, except for PixelP :lol.

We look at things very differently. My childhood dream was realized with Kenner's 12" Luke Skywalker (which I still own and have proudly displayed). This is an adult collectible and as such, falls short of the mark I expect from these products. I have plenty of other HT figures that I'm perfectly happy with displaying right out of the box. This is also Star Wars, the license in which I'm most invested, so the requirements are up a few notches.

2016 is going to be a year of predominantly bashes and customs for me - I've got my eye on a few announced figures I plan to keep stock, but very very few.

I had to delay this due to me being out of town, but he finally ships in a few days so can't wait.:yess:

That sucks man. I really wish you could enjoy these as much as I do. I hope that someday you will have the Collectables you're looking for. As for me these are it. I enjoy your insight and value your opinion even if we differ.

Part of the enjoyment of these figures is to be able to come to these threads and geek out together on how awesome they are. Just be careful not to tread all over someone else's enjoyment while you voice your opinion. Not saying you did can't wait to see what qualifies as pixel approved. Post pics when you have your figs put together. In the meantime I'd be happy to take some of these parts off your hands.

Interesting mix of parts. If I were to create an idealized version mixing both ANH and ESB I might have done it like they did. They kind of picked all the coolest parts.

I think the TFA version is my favorite aesthetically. I like the glass eye on the bottom and some of the extra greeblies.

I'd rather sell to someone not on the board so I don't have to feel bad about asking $100. :)

Gotcha. LOL But I can imagine a lot of people here also buy on eBay. Even if you don't know them you could still unwittingly sell to a Boardie.
