The solo jnix head was really something. From the first photo I saw I was blown away with its representation of ford as solo in SW. I'm not feeling the same for this one for some reason.

Beyond the headsculpt, the other thing that people never seem to mention in terms of the overall look of the HT Luke is the tunic - it's more than a half inch too short and isn't baggy enough, and it's probably 50% of what you are looking when viewing the HT Luke.

I swapped it for a modded Hasbro tunic (the sleeve ends have to be unpicked to lengthen the sleeves, but it's pretty easy) and it looks great IMO. It has the length, the bagginess and flows pretty well. It actually saved me from reselling the figure because it has a lot more farmboy Luke vibe to me than before.

I completely agree with the tunic being off - it looks too fitted and short. Do you have a photo of your Luke with the Hasbro tunic? I've heard people also use the medicom one.

This shows the medicom tunic. It's a nice thicker material and sits on the shoulders well , the HT can tend to float.

I decided to sell this Luke recently. It's nice being the first Luke appearance and all, but the head sculpt just doesn't work for me and was never really sold on the Jnix one like I was with the Han sculpt.

There will be more Luke's in the future with better head sculpts than this one, and I don't need more than one or two versions of him. I'm keeping the Stormtrooper version. I'll mostly keep that as a Stormtrooper, though I'm sure I'll throw the head on every once in a while.

Yeah while it's not my favorite look of his, if I could get a ANH Luke that really captured what he looked like in the movie (with a great likeness and properly weathered and baggy tunic), I would almost certainly get it. But I just haven't seen anything that came close enough.

All the talk about his face sculpt is humorous to me because if I ever get this my plan is to have him wear the helmet and poncho like some sort of space cowboy.

That looks much better, you're right about it riding up above the shoulders. The material is just completely unsuitable.

Wow, nice! That's the best I've seen him look so far

Agreed! Ive seen some paint jobs that were technically brilliant, but that's the first one that brings out the sculpt and makes it look recognisably like Hamill (in my opinion).

I don't think its the Jnix sculpt you don't like... I think its the camera angle and the paint:

I think this brilliant paint up shows that the sculpt has a lot of Hamill in it (lot more than the HT sculpt), but also that these are the limits of the angles that showcase that likeness. Hadn't heard of this painter before but will take note as this work is stunning. His work particularly on the eyes deserves credit (the side glance helps, but also the size doesn't give the sculpt that surprised look).

He's Chris Carveo, and his work is spectacular. I get the impression that he doesn't do all that much volume in terms of his paint work (like maybe a circle of friends), but the work speaks for itself.

Yeah, good post QGF. :clap

It proves the sculpt is really pretty solid. I do think more extreme eye positioning does help distract from sculpt issues though - I've seen a few Indys that I haven't liked too much that have been made far better with the eyes to the side or up. Somehow make it more dramatic and gives it life.

I do think the Jnix Luke looks better from a lower angle though (same as in the Silentsurfer pics) - anytime he's looking down or photographed from a slightly higher angle does seem to narrow the face a bit strangely.

The more side-on view reveals the weird "eyes too far back" thing on Luke (almost looking a bit ferret-like,) but head-on with great apps I think the head has a very nice chunk of Hamill in there.
