So did anyone ever try repainting this head to bring it closer to the prototype at all? Or is there just no saving it? Because I suddenly find myself wanting an Ep IV Luke now, especially with all those cool accessories of his. But only if there was a way to actually improve the likeness on it in some way.

I even tried switching out his hair piece and all I can still see is tom cruise. :dunno

Ahoy!

At times, I really do like this figure.

Coco, have u ever thought of making and selling those wood shelves u made for ur collection? I think people would buy those in a heartbeat. Awesome stand btw!!!

Thanks! I sold them for a number of years but I just can't make them for sale anymore. My work schedule and load has changed and, for those and other reasons, they just don't fit in with my circumstances like the smaller display bases do.

Love that backdrop! :rock

I think it's pretty good as is. If I had the skill I'd paint the hair to be lighter

Picked up Luke on a whim from eBay. Was hoping I would like the head sculpt better in person. Sadly not the case. :gah:

Yeah I've been checking out everyone's pics in this thread and the head just doesn't seem to be growing on me at all unfortunately (unlike the HT Han which strangely kind of is). It looks like it might be possible to bring the likeness closer to the proto by brightening up the eyes and removing the overly gray and stoned look they gave him, and also giving him more of a ruddier complexion... but it's no guarantee and I don't know if I really feel like spending the $240 to find out.

Stormie Luke still has the better likeness for me. Same sculpt so must be the hair color. Probably also why the SS hairpiece improves this one.

Not sure which photo you're referring to but my stormtrooper Luke features the dx07 head with a HT farmboy hair, although I had to carve out a lot of the plastic to get it to fit.

After checkout out all the various Luke sculpts, I still think Trevor came the closest with his old Stormtooper Luke. It's a shame it's probably oversized like most SS heads back then, as I bet a repainted version would look pretty good on the HT figure, even with the lack of detail.

I think jnix's looked good unpainted but when painted it seems to lose something

i think jnix sculpt looks great . now there are some things i found out with it in hand. i think the hot toys neck is too thick and combined with the angle of jnix head makes him look beefy. and too much muzzle. on a stormie , the black neck piece and the sculpt angled chin downwards has a really nice look!
