I like the JNIX sculpts as well and from certain angles it's spot on but for me to upgrade all my Luke's would cost me a bloody fortune so I'm settling for the stock HT sculpts.

Jnix's is a good sculpt but it's painted totally wrong
Look how different the jnix's sculpt looks, painted by three different artists

Damn now I wish I had grabbed this one with the Han - that's a beautiful sculpt and superbly painted. Superb!

I still think Silentsurfer made it look the absolute best. Not sure what magic he used, but it's definitely some amazing work.

Always remember though - what you are looking at there would cost $300+

The cost of the sculpt, plus 3 X shipping, and then the legendary Silentsurfer does not come cheap.

The further to the side view the sculpt is seen, the worse the eye placement looks. The positioning (and size) of the eyes was the key issue with the sculpt.

Jinx's sculpt largely looks like the "I just found out I swapped spit with my sister" with the big eyes. He got a lot of the other characteristics right though. That's not to say HT's is better - I generally think that all of them are equally flawed in different ways - the HT Bespin clean sculpt is still the best to date as far as Luke goes.

I still feel the BD HT Luke Bespin is the best Hamill sculpt so far, though with the bigger tunic (modded Hasbro,) I'm pretty happy with my HT farmboy Luke - copper hair notwithstanding (may need to give that a light blonde dry brush some day.)

Yeah, I have to say the DX07 sculpts, both clean and BD, are by far the best Hamill sculpts to date.

Regarding the Jnix ANH sculpt, the eyes are a bit too large and sunken in.

At least JNIX clearly was trying to represent Luke. The final Luke sculpt that Hot Toys released looks nothing like Luke. The original prototype certainly did, minus it still having far too small eyes, and perhaps was a bit too mean looking, but it still looked pretty great.

I feel like the biggest issue Hot Toys and 1/6 figures have in general is scaling the eyes of their characters. In this case Lukes eyes are too small but with Rey for example, they're far too big. I'm feel HT has a bias towards giving female characters bigger eyes and men smaller ones, regardless of accuracy.

And yeah, Bespin Luke = Best Luke, although that figure still doesn't quite nail it.

Yeah I think that's another case of their prototype painters making the sculpt look a LOT better than it maybe really is. Because while the final sculpt may have been softened just a tad in production (much like with the MOS Supes, for instance), it still appears to me to be the same basic sculpt. And I bet a Silentsurfer or Rahmier could make it look just as good as that again if they tried.

Something did happen with the hair piece though, It's seated at a different angle in the production piece (gives it more of that egg head appearance).

I wonder if anybody ever tried heating the hairpiece up and reshaping it to what it should be? Of course even on the proto the hair never looked quite right to me, with all those thin strands. Jnix got the hair looking a whole lot more accurate in his sculpt.

jnix's got Lukes head sculpt spot on perfect, it's the way it as been painted I think the jnix's Obi wan is the same perfect head sculpt not very good paint
Luke has big eyes

It's a fascinating sculpt to look at, because so much is right yet a few things noticeably wrong. I quite like it (nothing's
s perfect as we've found out with the HT SW line,) but in looking at it, I always feel like it's unmistakably Luke, but Luke with an alien presence inside him.

I do think something about Jnix's paint always seems to look like an allergic reaction - too much flushing. Uneven sunburn or a dermatitis outbreak. A few of the Lukes also had too much greenish 5 o'clock shadow, but it looks like he changed that. Also interesting that the sheen you often see in pics of Jnix heads (which isn't really noticeable in-hand) isn't showing up in Matrix's pics.

If you view the Jnix luke at 3/4 or side view, the eye placement issue becomes really obvious. From the front it looks good though, and that's the way you display it.

In comparing to the screen pics, the Jnix head's chin is just a bit too prominent too, making him look less boyish and throwing out the likeness a touch.

I think Luke would be best served with the neck and head as one piece. Especially when from ANH. Matrix took some dull coat to his sculpt.

Those are my sentiments also.

I feel the Jnix sculpt got more features correct as an aggregate whole, but I feel the eyes are just egregiously wrong and thus, throws the entire sculpt off for me. I realize Luke has larger eyes, but the dilated eyes on this to me still make it look like he's on meth. And like you said, turn the sculpt at a 3/4 or a side view, and in addition to looking seemingly large, the eyes look sunken in.

Also agree about the chin. Seems a bit too emphasized and strong to me; almost more resembles Christopher Reeve's chin in my opinion.
