The Jnix sculpt is still the winner for me. By no means perfect, but still a damn fine effort!

The Bespin one was painted by Jnix himself, and my ANH one by Mark Simpson. As you can see, this sculpt really benefits from a top-class paint-job (Sorry Jnix!!).

A couple of better shots. I’m just going to come out and say this: “it looks better in-hand”!!! And it does! It just seems that Jnix sculpts are really hard to photograph well (Han & Obi-Wan suffer from the same curse!). I am personally very happy to now have three of these Luke sculpts in my collection :)

Simpson, eh?
Doesn't ring a bell...

Seriously, paint changes everything sometimes. I really dislike that sculpt usually, but that first pic looks awesome. I hope that's what it looks like IRL.

Get Mark to paint one of those SSC recasts and that might do the trick.

eta: the slack jaw -- that's what he looks like in the movie!

Doesn't matter how good the paint is, it will never change the fact that the Jinx sculpt's XL eyes are far enough apart to have unique zip codes.

In future, please post a Trigger Warning before putting up pics of JNIX Luke. Thank you.

It’s definitely slightly bigger but a bit closer than I expected. Nose jumps out as being a bit more wide on the SS and the 3/4 angle you can see the larger jaw/cheek area, but everything mostly lines up. Shows how egg-headed the Hot Toys sculpt is that it still ends up being taller in the shot on the left.

Get that thing painted already! :lol

I know you meant get it painted by a professional, but I can't justify that kind of expense for an SSC recast unless I know Hamill can really be brought out from it. Sorry to disappoint in that respect, but I did paint it myself. Even with my crappy paint job, I think you can see the potential if a skilled artist would give this a shot. Here's a couple views in trooper gear (since that's the costume the sculpt was originally designed for).

And a couple angled shots in Farmboy costume.

And, finally, some Farmboy shots trying to capture every relevant angle. I think the sculpt has a fairly convincing likeness from profile and angled views, but suffers a lot in the most important view (straight-on). Not what I was hoping for, but not bad.

Again, I apologize that I'm not able to provide a professional paint app on this recast, but hopefully someone else can do that and post pics soon. I still think there's a strong likeness in this sculpt that a pro painter can take advantage of and turn into something way better than what Sideshow did with it.

I think this is the best sculpt we have so far.

Agree with TonTon, that's a darn good paint app. If that hair was sculpted a little more detailed originally, I think a lot of folks would be using it.

It’s really slim pickings. Best sculpt would maybe (maybe!) be SS X-Wing Luke. But it’s hard to tell with that tree trunk of a hair piece and subpar paint job. Hot toys has the best paint job obviously. But I just can’t believe that’s the best sculpt we have (but I did like it under the X-Wing helmet). Would love to see a top painter paint that X-Wing Luke up to see if it’s any good.

Really nice work there! The head especially looks good in these first two shots. I got an original of that head and considered using it for my ANH Luke, but ultimately it just seemed a bit too large and lacking in detail next to my other SW figures. Although the proportions look pretty good on your ANH figure, so the recast must have been quite a bit smaller.

Put Superman S curl hair on that sculpt, and I personally think it’s more of a match to a Superman IV era Christopher Reeve than Mark Hamill.
