Been waiting almost 2 years to be able to post pictures of this little girl...
First crack at dressing Leia in her new Dress. I think it looks great. Still need to fiddle here and there. The slip still shows thru, so I may use the included pants to hide the skintone...
And its light-years better than that crazy HT "blouse"...

At least you fixed the biggest thing though. Looks awesome.
So it’s like the Soul Stone then.
The soul must be thoroughly tested. One cannot just acquire the dress without first undergoing this rollercoaster of silence, torture, doubt, cryptic emails related to yards of pattern and limited supplies and then the excitement of a prototype that does not have enough material for the lot of us, and then rinse and repeat. Only then can the $$$$ be forked over.
That thread. Only good thing about the debacle over the customs was the death of that thread (though maybe it’s all just archived over there
).
Its pretty funny to look back almost 2 years ago -- the customs I was planning at the time, the figures I was eagerly awaiting, hell, Trump wasn't even President when it started.
But now I have a fantastic Leia that can stand proudly next to HT's disappointing Han, Ben, Luke, Chewbacca.... and still no 3PO or R2.

That’s true. To think Obama was still in office when this figure was released. It’s been awhile.
Yeah there was an awful lot of angst and drama going on in that customs thread. Lol. Nice to see the dresses finally show up though, and they turned out great.

Indeed they did. I still wonder why HT couldn’t do that to begin with.
They could have. Seemed rushed or something. They’ve definitely done some amazingly tailored figures, they should have gone back to the drawing board with Leia’s dress.

For sure. It’s odd because they obviously put a lot of work into the sculpt and got it a solid 9/10 in my opinion, only to get lazy at the end and do such an underwhelming job on the dress.
It kind of reminds me of that scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Where the guy is taking his time to meticulously scribe an elaborate carving in the stone, only to cut off mid sentence with “Ahhhhhhhhhh.”

Looking back at the first SDCC and proto pics, the thin fabric did seem to have a really nice and elegant look to it, so I can understand why they might have thought it was a good choice early on. But somehow in hand it just ended up looking a whole lot cheaper and uglier.
