Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Can I ask where you found it? I havd yet to see it at any stores near me in PA.

That's not my pick. Grabbed it from one of my friends posts on Facebook but he said Walmart.

I really want that Funko set, but holy wow, the paintwork on the 5-6 sets at my local Walmart were HORRENDOUS. Most were covered in black or red dots. WTF, Funko?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

there was also a black series set at TRU around the holidays that had slave leia along with the rancor and some other figures as well, idk where these weird rumors come from sometimes lol

looking forward to HT leia here if only to complete the iconic anh lineup, wouldnt buy any other version myself

I just hope it comes out okay, this line isn't perfect but it is very, very good - every figure has a nitpick or three but none of them are anything like bad. Really hope Leia continues the high standard.

Out of the human characters they've done so far, this one is the best likeness bar none. A little uncanny how much it looks like her.

...but hold your full praise until we see the production figure. I would argue that proto Luke was jaw droppingly good too. Honestly, had I ordered Luke and received him having never seen a shot of the proto, I'd have been perfectly happy. IMHO the main issue from which production Luke suffers is the incredibly high expectations set by the proto. I'm still happy with the figure I received, but the JC Hong painted proto was simply flawless (again, IMHO):

Exactly it's good but not proto like good.

It does suck they don't keep the paint scheme up.

That's the same way the Obi-Wan suffers. Looks good in person, but not as good as the prototype. You think people have ever emailed HT and griped about the differences? I know we all want these figs, but we should vote with our wallets. Perfect example is the Chewbacca they did. Even if I could get him at his original price I wouldn't buy him. He looks horrendous.

damn man, if u think Chewbacca looks horrendous, im not sure what's gonna do it for you bud! Having unrealistic expectations only leads to disappointment in the hobby imo

It's almost impossible to get production items to replicate the prototypes perfectly, but Hot Toys comes close sometimes, and that's quite an accomplishment when they do.

You may need to actually pull the trigger on Chewie. THAT'S a great figure...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Agree with both Reefer Shark and QuiGonFishing. Chewie's proto-pics were not flattering, to say the least, but in hand, the figure should be considered for "Figure of the Year", in my book. Sure, there are things that can be improved upon, such as fur color in some areas and muzzle shape, but these are not big enough issues to pass on the figure. Futzing only makes it even better.

And just to get this thread back on course, I can't wait to add "Her Worshipfulness" to my collection!

I'll be changing the waist grabber so can be hid under the dress. Leia does look impressive and besides Harley quinn and boush leia have been my only girl doll's lol. sorry female action figure's.:lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I wouldn't go *that* far...

The fact that they could do the fur is impressive, but they needed to get the color variations right. It's what makes Chewie look like Chewie.

Sorry, back on topic. Besides the paint, the sculpt just really looks right on Leia. The shape, size of eyes, etc. looks killer.

Wait, female figures don't get crotch grabbers? I'd love to have an insight into how and why that came about. In what way is it more 'appropriate' for female figures to have waist grabbers? :lol

One thing about Chewie is that the black markings on the legs sometimes look like shorts; and while so of the muzzles look great others look a little duck-like.

The female figures wearing pants do get crotch grabbers. It's the ones wearing dresses that get waist grabbers. I'll be switching out the waist grabber for a crotch grabber on Leia and the Scarlet Witch I've got coming. I think it'll look a lot better on the shelf.
