Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

What a group shot

At tribal council tonight, things look grim for Vader, but will the alliance against him hold together after it's reveled Luke and Leia are his children?

Hopefully that dress can be pulled down or even stretched a bit with water treatment.

You sly devil you. :naughty

Wet t-shirt contest for Leia, pics shortly after SS get stock. :monkey5

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I disagree, if HT know collectors will buy Slave Leia they'll make it.

As far as HT doing females, they are going to step it up. With WW, Marvel, possibly the HT Aliens line happening in the wings. I read the HT wants to get more video game character licenses going like Lara Croft and Street Fighter

The alien Ripleys are supposed to be seamless
If Disney won't license out a character, or a particular version of that character, then Hot Toys will have their hands tied. It was pretty big news a while back, the whole Disney, feminazi, Slave Leia thing. If their apparent decision bleeds over to high-end collectibles, you can probably kiss Slave Leia goodbye, sadly.

Anyway, when I said Hot Toys needs to step up their game, I just meant they need a seamless body that is high quality, looks better than the competition and, most importantly, one that won't break. Gamora's arm issues are inexcusable, in my honest opinion. And I love that figure. xD

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Leia may be the best of the line for me.....

Chewie is easily the worse, no matter hoe many apologists there are for him, or how high the scalpers can get, I have only see a handful of pics of him that look good in any way.

1. Leia
2. c3PO SS
3. R2 SS
4. Ben / Luke tie
5. Han
6. Chewie

You gots to give Chewie extra points for even being made. Not long ago people were wondering whether he'd ever see the light of day in 1/6. And the difference between a rubbish Chewie and a good Chewie is simply futzing. If you can't be bothered futzing a $250+ figure to bring out its potential, you don't deserve nice things.

You're putting the SS 3PO above the Tama? FWIW my heroes list would be:

1. Tama C-3PO
2. Leia
3. Chewie
4. Ben
5. Luke
6. R2-D2
7. Han

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Now the dilemma- pick up this version of Leia (which looks pretty good) or keep hoping HT makes a Hoth/Bespin Leia? :gah:

You should. Coz this version is where all the star wars craze started.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

While I have to agree that the sculpt is clearly one of Hot Toys best ever sculpts no doubt about it, from the neck down is another matter.

The costume is average at best the material used looks stiff it's got no flow or 'weight', looks to short. It seems people are so bowled over with the sculpt they seem to miss the rest of the figure.

It must be one of the simplest costumes Hot Toys have ever made and as far as I can see it's not any better than the old Sideshow costume, from a company that's market leader, frankly I expected better for £200+.

Someone on the waitlist for the exclusive will get a nice surprise. I cancelled mine.

Not sure such material exist that can show weight at that scale or size. So I understand Hot Toys effort and I'm still getting one.

You know that whole slave Leia thing was completely debunked right?

Really? I know there has been some crappy cheap-end "toys" that have been Leia Slaves since the whole affair began, but when you say bedunked, you mean Lucasfilm or Disney have said it's not true?

Nope, because it wasn't plastered all over the ****ing known internet like the "retiring" news was. So, it never made its way to my shores. Would be nice to see a source though. I was irritated as hell over it for a while.

Wait, I still am, lol. :p

Well the replacement Vader Robes and some custom Jedi robes have a very decent weight, look and hang very naturally I'm assuming of course that material is available in white but that's just the examples of material I know about I would imagine there are others out there.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Definitely. But it had to be. Paying $200 for it and nothing else.

Hopefully that dress can be pulled down or even stretched a bit with water treatment.

Overall, aside from the price for what you get, this is an A+++ figure.

So excited to be able to have that group photo in my own home. Been trying to do that since the Kenner figures.

Yeah, you said it. With Leia I will complete the line up I said I would and stop. But ( Yeah I know, there is always "but":lol) now I'm thinking I'm so close to having the original Kenner 12 line up that it's too damn tempting. I'd have HT Luke, Han, Chewy and Leia, customized SSC Old and R2, Tama Threepio and a Hurc Vader ( I also have Medi Yoda but he's only an addition. All I'd need is a Stormie, Jawa, Tusken Raider and a Death Squad commander. I think I can cobble something together cheaply with the Jawa and Tusken Raider. Not sure what I've decided on Stormie and DS commander as far as my options.

As far as the figure goes, it's way too much. I am so happy I don't buy a lot of Hot Toys and generally not interested in their licenses. I LOVE the head sculpt but that dress looks like it's going to be a ***** to futz. It looks kinda thick and won't be easy to manage. It's also too short. But overall I'm pretty happy and that group shot looks awesome. :)

Looks decent so far but I prefer to see it in hands before I say she's top notch.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

It's not like Kylo, Leia in all three OT films completely different outfits, completely different hair styles.

I'm getting every version

Wonder if Slave Leia will happen :lecture

You should. Coz this version is where all the star wars craze started.

The thing is that I prefer the look from ESB (I really like the hair loops and jumpsuit) a whole lot more to the one from ANH. The ANH look is iconic, but it's not my favorite. I only want to buy one Leia though, so if HT doesn't get the license to make an ESB version, this might be my best option for a good Leia figure.

They have the license for all of the films--I think they announced 1-7 when they got the license. I agree the Hoth look is perhaps her best. Tough to deny the space buns though. I'll consider switching to ESB Han and Leia combo when those are revealed but for now it's gonna be awesome having all these ANH figures.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I'm holding out for Hoth Leia and skipping this one. But it's undeniable that this is a great sculpt.

I thought he meant the Bespin Escape look. That's my personal favourite.
