No thank you. Die Cast or not, I do not want to spend that much on a figure with zero going for it.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

I care, WM is supposed to be black. His suit is dark in the comics or at least the ones i read as a kid.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

This in my opinion is the ultimate war machine fig. Sleek design but with just the right amount of bulk to look "machine" like with a more modern look to it. It has the best parts of the new and old figure. Simply nice! I never really understand why people say "oh I'm going to wait for this verison" or the next. But now I see why. Even with the rerelease of the orginal WM, this is the one I'm going for. I think it will look good with the mk vi and wpl mk2

What difference does is comic color make? The figure is not based on the comic suit. And I don't think that's what Das was saying. He was saying its to light based on 4 seconds we say in the trailer. And given how short that look is and it being different lighting you can't really say it's wrong at this point. To soon. As for the comics...yes at times he looked black in some parts. But not always. Not even most the time.

Here's some comic looks...

I'll wait for the 20% off code for this guy.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

I guess he doesn't look black here then huh?

And i never said he was all the way black nor black all the time, but the ones i remember such as these his primary color was black and white.

The milk war machine here is actually pretty close to the comic look i know and remember as a kid, i kinda wish ht would do a variant of that one again.

What's the diecast, MMS # for War Machine, Mk III?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

wow...i've been priced out of ht for a while now, but i am still amazed at how the prices have still been rising. $350 for a 1/6 figure is insane.

Price will go only higher! Except my salary. :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

Yeah its definitely getting harder to get all the figures that i want and each yr i spend more instead of getting less. This yr will be well over 1k, my most expensive yr ever!

I'd tend to agree with you on him having limited screen time in the trailer, but even the promo art has the dark parts of the armor much darker and closer to black. Not saying that is a be all end all either, but so far HT is the only place I see Mark 3 colored like the Mark 2... Like I've stated, I fully expect it to be closer to screen accurate by the time we get pictures of the final product.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

So nobody else cares that the color of this is off? I'm sure it will be closer to movie accurate by the time we see it but in the all promo art and in the trailer the dark parts of his armor are closer to matte black than blueish gunmetal grey... Even the description says the armor is Black and Silver.
I care about that and the fact that the pics and specs detail white lights only for this figure when they should be red.

At least the specs for the Mark I detail this:

Interchangeable helmeted head with LED light-up function (white light with red lens, battery operated)

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

Yeah it's lighter. Though that secret base pic washes it out a bit. The promo/sales pics they did make it look darker. Hot toys doesn't always get the color to match every scene of the film. It's really not possible. It looks (all costumes/suits) a bunch of different ways on screen. Just seems way to early to be upset about it not matching the movie...when the movies not even wrapped yet. Lol and it's a prototype figure.

I agree, the prices have gotten pretty high, which is why I'm glad a company like Sideshow has created Flex Payments, they realized how high the prices were getting and created an option for people to get figures they may otherwise never be able to get. I know it's because of the Flex I was able to even get back into 1/6 collecting. My first figure in like 5 years is coming in march and I'll be getting a few more through out the year, this most likely being one of them. I have a hard time paying 350$ at once but can handle 5 or so 60 dollar payments.

the problem for me is that in the back of my mind i still know that $350 in small payments is still $350. i was going through my entire collection the other day and i had a chance to take a step back and re-evaluate whether it was worth it to continue collecting hot toys.

when i first got into hot toys i had to really think hard before spending the back-then price of $135 per figure. somewhere along the line the price of hot toys has somehow doubled within 7 years, and i can't justify spending over 3 dimes on a single figure. no doubt that these figures are beautiful and that i get tempted now and then, but when i start to get that guilty feeling in my stomach that i am grossly overpaying for a product, i know it is time to stop.

i think one good thing is that some figures you can get down the line for less than $200 still since hot toys is saturating the market with the same characters. ive been able to pick up a couple figures for less than $150 due to re-releases and ppl unloading their older versions.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - D00 - CA: Civil War - War Machine Mark 3

For the record, war machine from the comics was always varying shades of grey, with lighting and dark shades he could sometimes look almost black but he was always shades of grey. I'm ok with the gradual switch to almost black in the mcu but honestly I prefer the grey for war machine. As far as the HT figures go tho, I want them to match and I'm gonna have the DC mark 1, AOU DC mark 2, and DC mark 3, so the darker tones are all good with me since those three will look great together.

That's not exactly an accurate comparison. The 130 or whatever for old figures. Iron man was never that cheap. So the 350 iron man shouldn't be compared to a 130 dollar hawkeye or whatever. The original mk3 bd was 195, so basically 200. Yes 350 is a big jump. But 7 years, new materials added items, improved (immensely) everything...it happens. As the company grows margins have to grow or the company goes away. It's business 101. And the licensing cost has gone up as well.

For a fair comparison to that old iron man mk3 look at the iron legion. Same material. Nearly same size. And shocker, the shipping in 2016 iron legion cost no more then the 7 year old iron man mk3bd.

Or the 150 dollar Thor 1 to the 220 dollar Aou Thor, that's light years better.

I'm not saying prices have not gone up, or that these are cheap in any way. But when a 12 inch version of a 1982 gi Joe costs 120 dollars....a 220 dollar (the average cost of human or normal sized figures is 220) hot toy isn't that much of a stretch. The retail price of everything has gone up. Back when hot toys was selling 130 dollar figures the retail cost of 6 inch marvel figures was like 8 bucks. It's 20 now. Motuc was 20 a pop with 7 dollar shipping.(27 each to my door) now it's 42.50 for each figure. And they have in fact mostly gotten worse (less accessory, less paint) and they are still mostly a reused tooling product. So cost should actually go down. And if you read their reasons for increased prices for years it was the price of oil. But shocker, when oil fell to 40% less then the day they started prices didn't go down. Lol it's business.
