It only seems to be the artisan version which is down to the dye in the hair. Yes it's an issue hopefully they fix this by covering the heads.

The DX hats are going up in the aftermarket! DX06 hat is $119! :horror Also I really hate the vest with printed buttons but seems like a ball ache to take off all the belts and swap it out!

I got my Artisan. Have DX06 full figure and DX15 head sculpts. Swapped all heads and wife still prefers DX06 lol. Mind the distorted images. Oh and the DX06 is small. Won’t stay on, DX15 as well. That’s why the new hat is huge. Sits better but it’s huge obviously. Others pop off almost immediately. You’d have to have something adhere to it.

Yeah I got mine for $50. First couple days they were around $35.

If there’s a custom maker that can offer a really nice one, I’ll get that too.

The DX15 neutral face plate looks to be the best thanks to these pics @DarthAlias , maybe it’s because of the positioning of the eyes.

Thank you for the comparisons! To me the new smiling sculpt still looks like the best Jack likeness they've done, so I don't really care about the new serious sculpt.
Do you have any pictures of the DX06 hat on this figure? I have a feeling it will probably fit better in the sculpted version since that's just the DX15 hair piece being reused. I'm also waiting for @Gipetto0812 to get the figure so he can try out all the Jack hats on it, before I commit to hunting down a hat.

I didn’t take any pics as I didn’t want to press hard on the hat for fear of ruining the hair/bandana. It looks better indeed but it slides right off when you put it on. Too tight around the hair piece. I’m sure the sculpted will work better but then again the new hair piece is larger compared to DX06 hair piece.

Yes. Yes they will.

And each is destroyed in their own way.

Will has become a bum.

Elizabeth has remarried, and is happy with her new children.
They already did in DMTNT.

Jack's a bum who trades his magical compass for a bottle of rum, his best friend and crew hate him, he doesn't care about the Pearl when it seems like it's forever lost to the sea and that ship is supposed to be the thing he loves most in life. The best pirate the world has ever seen, who's supposed to come up with ingenious escape plans and always manages to trick his enemies, spends the entire movie being saved by supporting characters or being the butt of a joke. You even get an uncanny valley de-aged CGI Depp in a young Jack flashback like you do with Indy in DOD.

Will is cursed for some reason and it's implied the crew of the Dutchman don't allow him, the captain, to have his son come aboard. He is in possession of the most fearsome ship in the seas in never aids his son or former comrades when they're up against Salazar.

Elizabeth decided to ditch the Pirate Lord title and all her character development to start wearing corsets again, she doesn't even speak one word in the 1 minute she's on screen.

I think DMTNT is more enjoyable than the previous film but it is by far the one I dislike the most, because the script doesn't know what made the original Verbinski trilogy special and it doesn't understand any of the lore or characters, especially Jack.

Just spoke to a rep and they said they had received their initial batch and expect to receive and ship their entire batch by ‘Jan-March’. Lame.

I’ll 💯 go TBA next time.
TBA is great. Four days from Hong Kong to Germany. And absolutely top packaging. Sideshow is nothing compared to that.

I stuck with the DX06 I prefer that movie as the only one that's REALLY good, but the new paint apps look great on the NON-Artisan.

Rooted hair is just not improving sculpts if that makes sense.

It’s not helping in this case, I’ll say that much. I’m trying to like the Artisan but I don’t think HT achieved it.

Great analysis, and I never quite thought about it in that way, structurally. I do like it better than Stranger Tides (which for me is the worst) but I have to agree on all your points.

Truthfully, like most, only the first two films are great -- I even find the 3rd, AWE, tedious to plod through until the final battle.

Yea it was a queued event situation and sold out in under an hour I think.

I think @SwedishHeat and I are the only ones on the board who have gotten charged for this unless others just haven’t been vocal about their orders getting charged?

I will definitely line out my thoughts when he arrives. Pics probably won’t come fast as this is one I’m going to want to take my time with and try to get the futzing right.
I got charged as well and should have it Tuesday.

Yeah I did a rewatch of all of them couple years ago and I started to check out during AWE, started to check my phone and stuff, and that’s how I know lol… but my eyes were glued again during the final act. The first two are the only actually great Pirates films, I agree.

I like the de-age sequence even if it's got the uncanny valley thing going on.

I enjoy all the POTC films even with whatever issues, thanks to the quality of the actors, sets, costumes, etc. At the time, I believe there was going to be, or some talk/rumor from Disney of kind of re-booting the POTC franchise with this "female Jack Sparrow-ish" character. An idea that was justifiably trashed by fans:pfft: and fizzled and died. Thank the sea gawds or there'd be another Indy fail.

Meanwhile my female KO Jack Sparrow-ish BBK Sophia fig came in. While she's more "doll" I think more than "action figure" - or at least has the plain face paint that's more "doll" - sometimes it's fun to have something to kitbash. Amusingly her knife and sword are either the same as HTs or exact duplicates. Go figure HER knife is metal as is the nice telescope. Sword is plastic. I'll try to get some pics up in the General section after I open the "War Story 1/6 Pirate Display Base". (Which as bases go, looks like it was made for a girly fig :monkey3 but think it will be amusing for Jack with some tweaks.)

Of course there was the guy who did a custom base for the Pearl way back ()
but that's out of my league, for now. Not that the new base sucks, it looks great IMO:love. As far as the wheel sliding around in the base slots, poster tac is my friend. Or even some of those rubber/felt furniture leg pads. (It's better than this "barbarian warrior" stand I picket up for a Boba fig where the crotch grabber just falls over.:lol)

Not sure what I'll do with the hat issue. Like, it's easy enough to add some sort of gripper lining. But in Jedha's vid it looks enormous, in general. Before I pay 100$ for a hat, I'll just borrow from my other Jacks.

I’ve seen a couple of reviews where they mention that the new Artisan Jack head sculpt is the best head sculpt hot toys has produced so far, so maybe it’s a case of the hair looking better in hand with all the detail from the different colored dreadlocks and accessories. I’m still waiting for the invoice from sideshow as well, so I can’t wait for it to arrive.
