Shipping begins on these today! I would imagine if your were charged on the 8th or 9th your order would ship today , at least thats what I'm hoping , I'll know tonight!

picking this fig up at the con seems more and more like a chore... many of you will have the clone trooper out of the box before attendees are asked to leave the convention center at 7pm... beginning to wonder why bother. next year, paying a few extra bucks to have SST ship it will be the way to go.

Sideshow has basically taken all of the incentives away from SDCC Attendees. Unless they return to the old form, there's almost no reason to visit their booth starting next year. I hate that.

Sideshow has basically taken all of the incentives away from SDCC Attendees. Unless they return to the old form, there's almost no reason to visit their booth starting next year. I hate that.

I can't agree. Things have changed but it will still be the first place I go and the place I visit the most. I liked ordering first before others but I'm still stoked as ____ to see everything. As far as the Exclusives that don't bother me at all. They could do it the way GG did back just a few years ago or go back to the lottery system. Which sucked even worse IMO.

But other than socializing and seeing prototypes of future items you already know about (which is only cool the first time anyway), what is the incentive for spending a lot of time at the SSC booth now? There is so much stuff to see and do at SDCC that you can't even fit it all in in the 4 1/2 days. I'll still drop by the Sideshow booth once or twice, but that's probably it (that's not counting using it as a meeting point for Freak gatherings, of course). Way too much else to see and do that actually promises reveals and excitement.

I guess for me I can't see the stuff enough over that time. Plus the shooting the breeze with friends from the board and SS is more than enough to keep me going back. There is a lot to see and do but I usually manage to see everything I really want to see. So for me at least its pretty much status quo as to how I'll approach the Con.

i look forward to SST booth, love seeing the protos... but yeah, it seems that the element of surprise may be gone this year. i sort of feel like the culture of collecting has taken a shift (i feel like i am being marketed to more than ever... i feel the word "collector" is being tapped out for the word "consumer")... but the prerequisites for growth is the openness to experience events and the willingness to be changed by them... i feel that change within myself and i know others do or will...

I can seriously see Sideshow having a MUCH smaller booth and physical presence at SDCC in a year or two. That's where these latest approaches to the con are pointing.
