AVP3 without a doubt is a much better game than this. I rented A:CM from Red Box, and hot damn I'm glad I did.
I played some campaign, and I played some Multiplayer. The controls, and abilities for the Aliens in AVP is leaps and bounds above this game. The MP, story, and gameplay is actually better in AVP3 too. I'm not saying that is the greatest game...but damn it's a hell of a lot better than this.
This game is seriously a joke. The graphics look like the last generation, the gameplay feels dated, and MP is down right boring. You know it's a waste of time, when a game that was released years prior to this, allowed you to feel more like an Alien, than this tacked on MP. Seriously, you can't even climb walls, playing as an Alien is almost useless because the Marines are overpowered, and as long as they stick together, you're gonna have a hard time getting close enough with anything but a "Spitter" Alien. That was just wishful thinking, and I wasn't very surprised to see the score this game was receiving when I woke up. Even still, with my affinity for all things Alien, I had to see this trainwreck for myself.
WTF were they doing for 6 years? When a game keeps getting pushed back, for years and years, I always think..."oh yeah, that game is obviously gonna suck"...but after awhile my mind started playing tricks on me, and I allowed myself to think "maybe this has a chance, maybe it's one of those times where the delay is just to make the game better and add more polish."
Is this one of those games? Hell nah! This isn't Bioshock, this isn't GTA. Gearbox is not in the same league as the developers that produce those games. Heck, their only claim to fame is Borderlands...and personally, while that game is at least competent, it's seriously a very overrated franchise. This Aliens game and Duke Nukem are turds for sure. We'll definately see Gearbox closing the doors within the next 10 years at this rate.
