Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

So if Thanos' big plan was to whip out half of all living things with the power stones..

Then why get Loki to attack earth?

Why Use Ronan at all?

Why finally put on the glove and say... Fine I'll do it myself at the end of AOU?

Why does he have that glove in AOU... Why does a fake one exists in Thor 3? I don't think it existed yet since the Dinklage was forced to make it for Thanos in IW. It does not seem like it would be made before the events in Thor 3 since the Dwarf asks thor were was Asgard Thor tells him its been destroyed like that is the reason they never came.

I figure we are just supposed to ignore all of that.. But was wondering if there was an actual timeline or explanation.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

There are only 4 fantasy movies I need in my life:

LOTR trilogy
Conan the Barbarian 1

Not even Excalibur and Dragonslayer make the list!

I’m really dying to rewatch Dragonheart with Sean Connery again I only saw it opening night and loved it but never watched it again.

8 years of GOT are you freaking nuts lol

GOT is good stuff.

Its 8 seasons but only 13 episodes long each season.. 6 for season 8.

Some of the best villains ever dwell in that show.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Man you really are on a mission to destroy EG now after Hulk’s arc went sideways aren’t you :lol

Now in your own rage you’re even trying to bring down all of the MCU! :panic:

Kal-El......NO!

I mean...

JAWS......NO!

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

lol@ chewblacca

So I was supposed to have my 3rd and maybe even 4th viewing this weekend but my plans changed and I ended up having my 3rd AND 4th viewing TONIGHT!!! :thud:

Holy crap i’m just getting home lol

Good news movie holds up wonderfully!

Honestly this movie should’ve been called Captain America: End Game lol

It really is a love letter to him.

I loved the AOU call back of when IM, Vision and Thor do a triple laser beam strike on Ultron but this time it was on Thanos in the exact same manner.

Man Thanos wipes the floor with Thor lol

Ughhh, on my 3rd viewing there were a group of 4 (2 boys with 2 girls) in front of me that kept laughing out loud and laugh spitting (know what I mean) everytime there was a serious scene or at the deaths. Finally the entire auditorium told them to shut up.

On my 4th viewing 3 rows behind me these 2 white boys kept repeating over and over and over “Wakanda Forever” in T’Chala’s accent and laughing out loud at almost every scene transition so freaking infuriating someone got the manager who told them to cut it out which they did. Those 2 kids lucked out that the Terry Crews sized black guy in my row with his girl tolerated it lol

Yeah, it still held up for me as well after second viewing. I’d like to go and see it again for a third.

And it did seem like it made a lot of AoU references and nods, seemingly the most out of any other MCU film. At least Avengers films.

I'm pretty sure that in IW Gamora said that Thanos used to take his armies planet to planet to wipe out half the populations until he learned of the Infinity Stones so he started delegating the invasions while he searched for them.

I was even thinking back to IW how Cap got the greatest entrance in the film. So greatest entrance in IW, arguably the best one on one battle against Thanos in AEG, leads the superhero army, then closes the movie (and entire MCU for all intents and purposes.) Yeah the TFA writers weren't going to let their golden boy down, lol.

I saw that the Extended Edition of The Hateful Eight is on Netflix tonight so I watched the first chapter since I had only previously seen the shorter cut but then when the first chapter was over just said **** it and put in Iron Man 3 instead, lol. I'm just on too much of an MCU kick right now.

And dude just thinking back to the end of CW where Martin Freeman says what's it feel like to fail so spectacularly and Zemo says did I. Holy crap by dividing the heroes Zemo freaking killed Stark, Widow, and ended Cap's career. :panic: :thud:

It doesn't get better than those. A buddy of mine really tried to get me hooked on GOT when it was still in its third season so he busted out his Season 1 blu-ray set and had me watch the first episode. Not even a naked Emilia Clarke could suck me into that show. To this day the pilot episode is all I've ever seen.

Holy crap I'm still laughing at Kal-El no, lol.

RDJ might’ve earned more money in real life but what I care about is the 11 year narrative and Cap closes out that narrative like you said.

I had no idea H8 had an extended cut really sheesh lol I am curious about it though.

Yeah that Zemo line is even more chilling now isn’t it holy long term repercussions just from a simple human no less yikes!

BW death scene has become increasingly sad to watch as my viewings increased as has Rogers looking at Peggy thru the window lots of good stuff in this movie.

Not having a Hulk rage scene disappointment has actually decreased as my viewings increased as has Falcon getting the shield, interesting.

I would’ve still loved a Hulk rage scene and still believe it was a missed opportunity BUT it’s no longer putting the brakes on my overall enjoyment of the movie as a whole for me any longer.

Man I can’t believe the stunt I pulled off lastnight last time I did that was on Transformers 4 of all movies!!!

lol @ GOT attempt

Much respect for those cool cats that enjoy it like Reefer, a-dev and JAWS but it really is too late for me to enjoy them. I believe them when they say great stuff exists in that show but it’s just easier for me to be lazy lol because when it comes to fantasy there can be only one.....or two. :lol

EG has completely removed me from Star Wars mode btw which is great I want an MCU summer and not think of IX Christmas just yet.

Tell me you didn’t read my JAWS...NO post in Gal’s voice lololol

If you did...i’m patting myself on the back for mission success :lol

I guess this thread is gonna be arguing about "Why didn't so and so just _____" because of time travel.

The movie even tells you not to try to make sense of it, just like Looper did. At least this movie was good, unlike Looper.

But for obsessive compulsive types, you just gotta accept that none of the time travel stuff will ever "fit" or make sense. I mean, Nebula killed her past self for gods sake!

Just think of this scene from the Simpsons

Instead of "wizard" just think...."Pym Particles" or something.

Also...I had no idea the two bad guys on Thanos' team hug each other as they disintegrate. Am I the only one that finds that horrifying? These are supposed to be soulless monsters, not sympathetic beings....now I'm just gonna imagine them like that squeaky shoe that got "The Dip" in Roger Rabbit. Gee, thanks.

Apparently that's Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. I thought CG was killed earlier in the battle by Okoye, but apparently he was only wounded. Anyway, CG and PM are husband and wife, so the hug would make sense. But just because they have feelings for each other doesn't mean they deserve sympathy - they'd done some pretty awful things in the name of Thanos. Besides, if Thanos had won he was going to snap everyone out of existence and start fresh, so best case scenario they'd be brought back by him but have no memory of each other & their past life together. So either way, those versions of CG & PM were going to die.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

I’m pretty sure Okoye did kill Corvus Glaive.... Proxima Midnight was holding and mourning him when they got snapped I think.

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Well after 11 years I now have my favorite single defining moment in all of the MCU and I can’t believe it’s in the last freaking movie for these characters.

To pick a single defining favorite moment out of 46 hours worth of content is not an easy task and in no way does it diminish the high quality goodness from the other entries.

When I say “defining moment” it’s just a single moment that represents everything I came to love about the series.

I guess it makes sense that it happened in the last movie because of the cumulative narrative effect so in a way it’s unfair to the other movies but in a very major way i’m super thrilled that it is there to end the series in such a thrilling manner especially since there was no guarantee that EG would have a scene of that caliber.

Anyways enough rambling after 11 years and a ton of emotion, money and time invested my most favorite defining emotional moment in ALL of the MCU goes to.....

Drum roll please lol

The quiet scene other than fire embers crackling in the background of Captain America receiving a broken transmission from Falcon with Falcon’s epic simple dialogue calling out Rogers with “Cap” and ending with the most epic line of dialogue ever spoken in a superhero movie, EVER!

“Avengers Assemble!”

“I’m Batman!” you’re out!

My heart stopped and raced at the same time an impossible feat!

Well there you go.

Is EG a perfect movie?

Is the MCU a perfect series?

If would be easy to answer with “why should they be when i’m not perfect so whom am I to demand perfection from 22 consecutive connected movies” but you know what i’m proud to add the entire collective MCU to my perfection list that is:

ANH/ESB
LOTR
Raiders
Die Hard 1
Predator 1
Conan the Barbarian 1
Road Warrior
Aliens
T1
T2
TDK
The Thing
The Exorcist
Friday the 13th 1
Halloween 1

I see perfection in 22 consecutive connected movies even though some entries were not perfect, does that make sense.

No, that’s ok my list my rules lol

Man never in a million years in my most wildest of imaginations would I have ever thought that Falcon would be connected in any shape or form to my most favorite superhero moment in cinematic and non cinematic history!

Oh man :lol

Yes EG Cap is THAT EPIC just think about that for a second, let that sink in! :lol

But, but, you're wrong......the most epic line was "On your left". That's the one brought the feels. :lecture

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

Put your directors/writers cap (pun intended) on for a second and ask yourself this:

Which of the 2 lines of dialogue did the Russo’s/writers place all of the focus on?

“On your left” while cool and part of what makes that entire moment my most favorite it’s just that a very cool line from a secondary character that is used as as a call back to TWS in an effort to build up Cap even more and successfully so I might add, perfectly used to great effect!

BUT “AA” is used by the PRIMARY character with all attention placed on said character who was center screen and not off to the side flying around like Falcon AND the music and sound effects went quiet to greatly accentuate the importance of those 2 simple yet powerful words used to rally everyone to save humanity!

“On your left” is just a cool call back personal line of dialogue perfectly used between 2 characters.

“AA” is meant as a rallying cry for ALL THE GOOD CHARACTERS to save humanity!

“AA” was given a ton more importance than “On your left” by the creators.

Not even close for me, sorry but thanks for the feedback fellow geeks. :hi5:

Re: Avengers: Endgame (April 26th, 2019)

All I can say about Endgame is that I love the movie. Captain America is my favorite of the movie characters followed by Hulk and Stark and Rocket. Seeing the closure for Cap was awesome. I think Stark's sacrifice was fitting knowing he saved the universe and his daughter was still alive. Great story Arc and Downey Jr made me like Iron Man as in the comics I never really liked him. Especially in the civil war comic with how he used Spider-Man. Hulk was good. Definetly different than what I was expecting but he had some important moments. Holding up the building after Thano's attack is a call back to the secret war comic. Professor Hulk was never my favorite, Mine is gray Hulk but I can appreciate what they did in the movie. Avenger's Assemble is epic. This movie lived up to my expectations and that was no easy feat.
